Waste Management will collect and recycle Christmas trees, starting on December 26, for two (2) consecutive weeks at no additional charge. If possible, please cut your tree into small pieces and place them in your green waste cart.
• Trees longer than six (6) feet must be cut in half. • Please remove all decorations including tinsel, lights, ornaments and tree stands. • Flocked trees will be collected but cannot be recycled.

City of El Cajon residents can schedule four (4) bulky item pick-ups per calendar year (up to 6 items per pickup) at no additional charge. These items are picked up on service days and need to be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. in order to be retrieved. To schedule a bulky item pick-up, please contact Waste Management at 1(800) DUMPSTER or (619) 596-5100 at least 24 hours in advance of your service day.
Note: We are now able to accept TVs or computer monitors as bulky items. Please contact customer service at 1(800) DUMPSTER or (619) 596-5100 to arrange to have them picked up. You may also take TVs and computer monitors to Waste Management’s Recycling Center at 925 O’Connor St. in El Cajon, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All e-waste can be safely disposed of at no charge.
Free Bulky Item Pick-UpPlace leaves and other green waste inside your green waste cart to be composted. Other green waste includes: grass, clippings, sticks, small branches, wood (untreated, not painted) and tree trimmings.
