Online Admissions Application

Applicants can save application before submitting it and return at a later date to finalize data and submit.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the “Begin Application for San Diego State University” button.

Applicants need to read message from campus. This section includes specific information on campus requirements and deadline dates

Applicants receive an error message for incomplete or blank answers.

This feature allows the applicant to jump between sections.

Step 4: Residency Information

If a student is less than 19 years of age, he will be prompted for his parents' information.

If a student is 19 years or older, he will be prompted for only his information.

Step 5: Demographic Information

To conform to federal guidelines, CSU campuses must collect information on ethnic and racial backgrounds for all applicants. This information will not affect the student’s application for admission.

Clicking the “Add A High School” button allows the applicant to search for the name of his/her high school.

Applicants are able to list up to five different high schools attended.

After the applicant clicks “Add a new course,” a pop-up window appears. A drop down menu displays a list of approved courses for the selected high school.

AP Exam scores will clear high school subject requirements.

Applicants are able to indicate two summer grades to reflect a full year course.

Courses taken in 12th grade should be indicated as “In Progress” and “Planned.”

Step 9: High School Preparation 2 (1 of 4)

A college course that is taken to satisfy a requirement can be noted on the application.

Select the college from the pull down and enter the course number and title.

If term type is college, only enter the grade you earned once in the appropriate term.

CSUMentor is providing additional assistance to students who need help calculating their GPA.

Common Application Errors

Applicants fail to report courses planned during their spring term in their 12th grade year.

Common Application ErrorsApplicants fail to report repeats as planned during the 12th grade year. All work in progress must be reported in the fall or spring of 12th grade to be applied to admission requirements.

NOTE: The original grade must be reported until a final grade in the repeated course is earned.

Courses do not appear on Chula Vista High School UC “a-g” list

Applicants attending CA high schools manually enter high school course work instead of using “a–g” pull down list from the UC list. Course titles reported may not match with what is on the UC list.
