Explore Antarctica on an exhilarating Centennial adventure
In 1914 Ernest Shackleton and a crew of 27 stalwart individuals attempted to cross the continent on foot from the Weddell Sea to the Ross Sea via the South Pole. While disaster famously beset the Endurance expedition, Shackleton, through extraordinary leadership and dogged, relentless effort, lost none of the men who were with him; all were saved in 1916. The legendary tale has inspired us as an expedition company, ever since Lars-Eric Lindblad took the first group of ‘citizen explorers’ to Antarctica in 1966. There are still good cabins available on National Geographic
