Lumension WorLd-Wide saLes meet ingoctober 11-14, 2010
Scottsdale, Arizona
SHIFTexcellence 2SHIFT

Dear Colleagues:
We operate in a challenging economic environment and our challenges are many. Buyers remain cautious and focused on cost control; they are holding back their IT spending for longer periods of time.
That being said, we are also fortunate to represent an industry that is quickly becoming recognized as a key pillar in the new generation of cloud computing platforms. Gartner predicts IT security will rebound in 2010 from the decrease experienced in 2009, and our market will continue to grow and reach $24B by 2014.This is an average annual growth of 10% over that timeframe.
We are also fortunate that we are well positioned as a company to take advantage of that growth. With the development of the Lumension Endpoint Management Platform architecture, innovative solutions like Intelligent Whitelisting, and our other core technologies, we are well positioned to meet the growing needs of IT security. As a result, our opportunities are limitless.
However, we must shift from a company that was once focused on selling simple point products into a company that effectively positions solutions that improve security, control, and visibility while reducing complexity and costs for our customers.
I welcome you to join me in making a Shift 2 Excellence in our technology and how we go to market. This is the first time we have brought our entire worldwide sales force together. Our goal in doing so is to build our team into the industry’s leading customer-focused sales force that is 2nd to none.
Sincerely,
Pat Clawson CEO Lumension

Dear Colleagues:
Welcome to Scottsdale, Arizona. The theme of this year’s sales meeting is a “Shift 2 Excellence” and that is precisely what we intend to do during our time together. Why the theme of Shift 2 Excellence? The market is undergoing a series of dramatic shifts. The shift to application-centric risk, the shift to consumer driven IT, and the shift toward risk management, just to name a few.
However, our customers are also making a shift. A shift in how they buy, why they buy, and in how they want to be engaged with. Our customer engagement is no longer on our terms but their terms. Today, a wide range of information, from pricing to technical specifications, is available to anyone at the click of a mouse. Our customers are more educated than ever before, and they are demanding a different type of relationship.
As sales professionals, it is our job to know more about our market, our technology, and our customers. It is important to listen and understand their challenges. We must position our technology in a way that meets not only our customer needs, but also delivers real business value.
Throughout this week, we will spend significant time learning about the new customer environment – in addition to learning about our technology. We will hear from a new generation of sales thinkers and even from customers themselves on the shifts occurring within our environment. We will learn about new ideas and tools that we can use to make an immediate difference in how we can deliver a winning and compelling customer experience.
This is an exciting time for all of us. It is my goal that our team delivers a superior customer experience that becomes a differentiating advantage in addition to our innovative technology. This goal starts with you.
Let’s make the Shift Together.
Matt Mosher SVP Worldwide Sales
