Estonia were initiated in co-operation with the Nordic Gene Bank in 1994

The gene bank of the Jõgeva PBI was set up in 1999 A national PGR programme was formally approved and

finances allocated by the Government on 14.08.2002 The number of PGR accessions that would be considered

The Estonian National inventory

Development of the national inventory The national inventory has to be continued for

elaboration of existing private collections. Survey of private collections shall assure preservation of a unique germplasm of an Estonian origin, which is under the threat of loss presently

There is an intention to collect all relevant information on all collections of Estonia into one central database to increase the value and efficiency of the collections

The Estonian National inventory

Major challenges and constraints Collaboration between all maintainers of germplasm All relevant information on ex situ collections has to be

documented in the central databaseNI The solutions for solving the constraints are in the

effective collaboration between all partners on the national and international level-
