Therearetwoprimarydomainsofknowledgethatsupportthevalidityoflatentprintdiscipline:1)sciencedemonstratingthediscriminatingpoweroffrictionridgeimpressionsand2)sciencedemonstratingtrainedanalystsarecapableofprovidingaccurateconclusions.Whilemanyanalystslearnthisinformationaspartoftraining,theyoftenstrugglearticulatingthesecomplexconceptstothetrieroffact.

Thisintensefive-daycoursewillreviewkeyconceptsandresearchunderlyingbothdomainsthatcanbeusedtosupportlatentprintadmissibility.Theinstructorwillfacilitatediscussionsandmentorattendees.Attendees will devise questions and answers covering the concepts and practice testimony. A fewcomparisonexercisesareprovidedtoreinforcetheacademics.Additionally,acourtcaseillustratingreal-worldapplicationofthesetestimonymethodsiswoventhroughouttheweek.Thecontentofthecourseisorganizedintofourblocksthatlogicallybuildononeanothertopromotelearning.Eachblockisreinforcedwithatestimonypractical.
