Lisa’s Compassionate Healing Practice
Room One view out of my healing practice room is on a very beautiful pine tree and the waters of Miller Bay.
If I look at a pine tree two things are particularly striking me: first the straightness of the growth and
the pointed, needle leaves, secondly the aromatic
smell. The water view symbolizes for me the flowing of my emotions. It is so amazing for me to be aware
how water can adapt by responding to change and remain true to it self. In the afternoon the sun
enlightens the room and brings in a warm light.
I am looking forward to meet you in this sanctuary room, which embodies for me a safe, nurturing place
and embraces all of your self, which wants to be transformed into increased health and well-being.
My primarily work is to help you get an
understanding of the deeper cause of what is going on with your health. I will use my skills in
ThetaHealing, Bach-Flower Therapy, Homeopathy, Nutrition and counseling to assist you in returning to
your optimal health.
November Special
I am offering an introductory half-hour free consultation for new patients. Call for an appointment

Theta-Healing
I am so excited about this new
healing modality,
which came to me last year. I
studied ThetaHealing in
January and February and the depth of its
transformational forces amazes me. It is a perfect complimentary to my other healing modalities.
Actually, I became so inspired in ThetaHealing that I traveled to Idaho in August to become a
ThetaHealing teacher. It’s founder, Vianna Stibal
(www.thetahealing.com) healed herself of cancer in 1995 instantly and went on to develop a system of
healing that is changing consciousness through the activation of the DNA and by conscious use of the
theta brain wave.
In the classes I learned about the seven planes of existence and how to be in co-creation and harmony
with the source of All That Is. For me it is essential to serve “this bigger plan” and manifest Who I AM in
the highest and best way.
My purpose in being a healer is to support you in releasing the blocks to your well-being so that you live
fully Who You Are.
Just recently I newly discovered with some friends the
wonderful quote from Marianne Williamson:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about
shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure
2
around you. We are all meant to shine, as children
do.We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in
everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we
unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our
presence automatically liberates others.”
ThetaHealing is a wonderful method to re-connect
you with your full potential. At the same time it can
eliminate programs that keep you small, sick, alone or
in unending cycles of pain and loss. I am continually amazed by what is possible with ThetaHealing.
This beautiful
healing
modality has already done
so much for me
personally,
with my family,
friends and clients.
Please contact me if you are looking for a personal
session or if you are interested in learning this
modality. I will offer a Basic ThetaHealing workshop on January 18, 19, & 20, and Advanced Theta
workshop on March 7, 8, & 9, 2008.
Bach-Flower Class
Many of you know about my love and passion of the
Bach-Flower Essences. They help so gently to heal our blocked emotions, even if they are from earliest
childhood. Daily life has so many challenges and it is
not always easy to stay in balance when we are in a struggle with life, family, friends or what is going on in
the world. How can I stay connected with my center and keep an open heart when life doesn’t conform to
my values and ideals. Bach-Flower Essences truly help
us to re-connect with our hope, optimism, confidence,
to be patient, trustful, courageous, tolerant, honest and so on. Try it out!!
For those who want to learn this healing modality, the
next class “The Transformation of your Life with Bach-Flower Essences” will be on Saturdays from 2 –
5 pm on January 12, 26, February 2, 9, 16, 23 and March 1.
A deepening 3-hour-class advanced for those who
attended the first series will be on Saturday, March 15 from 2 – 5 pm.
Tips for Fall
Autumn is the perfect season for strengthening our lungs and colon. When they are healthy, we can let go
of the old what has served us and welcome the new and nourishing. Just as we can breathe easily, letting
go of the old and taking in the new, thousands of time
a day. The season is also inviting you to deal with details and process your experiences. You might
express that you are finished with something and let go with gratitude for what you have learned and what
has nourished you - not coldly but with a sense of
warmth and serenity, clarity and compassion.
If you want to support yourself in this fall-transition
into a cold season and protect you from a cold please keep your body warm. You might use some simple
tips, like drinking Ginger Tea, using hot spices, eating
more radish, leek, onions, horseradish, garlic, mustard, rice and oat, peanuts, walnuts and brazil
nuts and especially the vegetable celery, cauliflower, turnip, and cabbage.
Stay healthy, warm and well,
Your Lisa

Brian Produces New Glass, Stone, and Bronze Sculptures
Dear friends and patrons, Lisa and I invite you to visit our new home gallery. We will be open for special events and sculpture exhibitions (See our calendar of events as well as by appointment). If you would like to put your friends on our invitation list, please email me so that we can send them an invitation. We wel-come you to our new gallery, a peaceful place on the Indianola waters. Brian@BermanSculpture.com
This has been a very productive sculpting year for me with many new sculptures in stone, bronze and glass. I’ve been working with the theme of light and shadow, using metaphorical forms of seeds and sprouts as they reach for the light. These are the peace symbols that are emerging as I grapple with the darkness and pain of war.
This past fall-winter, I took a 4-month training with local artist and foundry owner Tom Jay, in Chimacum, WA. I made a bronze sculpture that I titled Inner Space. Tom said it was one of the most complicated molds he has ever worked on in his 40 years of casting. When I finished making this sculpture, I brought it to The Gallery at Bainbridge Arts and Crafts, and they sold it that same day. Fortunately, I made a slide show of the process so you can watch how it was made. I am now preparing to cast another bronze of this form. Here is the link, please give it time to load up the slides: http://www.bermanhealingarts.com/2_stone/CreatingInnerSpace.mov
The last two years I’ve been making limited editions of my favorite sculptures, casting them in glass as well as bronze. I first started to work in cast glass in 1994, and after a month of hard work the glass sculpture twisted and broke into three pieces. Since August of 2006, I’ve worked with a glass casting company with many other learning curves. The cooling process (annealing) is the secret to successful glass casting and my failures led me to search for another glass-casting studio and eventually found one of the best glass-casting studio in the world in Europe. The glass sculptures that I cast in Europe are beyond words to describe. Even the photos can’t capture the beauty of these sculptures as they change in beauty throughout the day. They are truly incredible one of a kind sculptures.
This summer was full of art shows and workshops. I am now represented in two Utah galleries, A Gallery in Salt Lake City and the CODA Gallery in Park City, which has branches in Palm Desert, CA, and Soho, NY. While bringing new sculptures to these galleries in August, I taught a sculpting workshop in Salt Lake City to a wonder-ful group of sculptors.
November 9-11 from 10am to 5pm, Berman Healing Arts Gallery will be apart of Art in the Woods Studio Tour. This is a great excuse to get out of the house and inspire yourself with the beauty of art and the beauty of nature. Our home gallery is on the water and there are beautiful views and great beach walking places nearby. Our ad-dress is 7238 William Rogers Rd. Indianola. Here’s the link to the Art in the Woods info: http://cafnw.org/
Please also look for my new website, coming online early November. Go to www.BermanSculpture.com and let me know what you think. Looking forward to seeing you in November. All the best, Brian

A Compassionate JourneyIn May 2007, we facilitated a week-long Compassionate Listening delegation in Berlin, Germany. It was held for
those who were ready to work with the wounds of WWII and the Holocaust. We were assisted by Eve Rennebarth, the filmmaker of Embracing Story. Together, we created a pathway for healing and for building
peace and reconciliation.
“The horrors and atrocities cannot be erased. The big question is, do I want to go to my grave carrying all these
emotions?” stated one delegate. This is the big question for each of us. Members of the delegation came
from the USA, Great Britain, and from Germany and brought with them their fears, denial, hate, trauma,
guilt, shame and most importantly their willingness to heal.
In our opening circle everyone shared why they were here and what they hoped and dreamed would come out of
the Compassionate Journey. Our eldest participant was 80, born in Berlin. This was her first return to her
homeland since leaving in the late 30’s. One of her intentions was to experience and learn Compassionate Listening so that she could be a better listener to her children and grand-children. She was also seeking the
recovery of memories. With the help of a participant living in Berlin, she found the location where her father’s atelier had been. When we visited the memorial site where the deportation to the concentration camps took place,
she expressed with deep emotion how easily this could have been her family’s journey.
An American participant carried a deep hatred for what the Germans had done to the Jewish people and he had
been carrying this hatred for most of his 60+years of life. On the third day he expressed that his hatred had
diminished and a strong skepticism had emerged. On the forth day he informed our group that even the skepticism had diminished and his curiosity was emerging. On the fifth day he shared that the person that he had
known his entire life was no longer his operating identity. His demeanor was light-hearted and freed.
We listened to survivors of the Holocaust, and we listened to those who were in the Nazi Party. We were struck
by their commitment to educate the youth of today, that it never happens again. We felt blessed that they are still
alive and teaching us through their lives, for one day this generation will be gone and who will carry this message
forward to our impressionable youth?
“Now the Jewish Holocaust survivor and the once fanatic Hitler Youth leader, are standing face to face, shaking their hands – a
moment which nobody in the group will ever forget.” Eve Renebarth
One participant wrote afterwards, “…I experienced a richly supportive backdrop to retrace my steps from fear and revulsion
toward openness and co-existence, while loosening a few knots of apprehension along the way. I learned and practiced Compassionate
Listening as a way of opening new heart-space for others' narratives as well; no matter how many I've heard in the past, it is only a
matter of time before my perceived saturation gives way to a longing to hear more, each story a springboard to deeper understanding.”
The Compassionate Journey continues on the next page............

After the program ended one participant wrote this. It captures the great spirit of the Compassionate Journey.
Bless this state of grace!
I’m deeply touched at the end of these seven days. Life after this will be a new adventure. I feel like I just got off a ladder ten stories up
the shaft of awareness. I am exhausted, but exhilarated. This practice of compassion and compassionate listening is very humbling; I feel challenged in a way I’ve never felt before, with a strong sense of connectedness with every one of the participants after what we
shared as a group and exchanged as individuals and by curious extension, I feel a new kind of connectedness with all beings around me.
Wherever I go, I meet strangers whose lives appear tenderly fragile, whose faces hold the potential for injury or enlightenment. I release judgment, the inner quarrels, the treadmill of tiring mental acrobatics. To be present with heartfelt intent and show my light ˆ that’s
what’s on now.
I felt seen and loved, held and cherished in that space. Ah, to carry this forward regardless!…. Alexa, Berlin.
We are so grateful for all those who participated in the Compassionate Journey as well as all those who helped
pioneer this work in our Jewish German Reconciliation Project. May reconciliation and healing blossom in all of our hearts.
We have scheduled our next Compassionate Journey.
Come Join Us May 13-20, 2008 We will return to Berlin with our:
