So Did Kevin!

This is dedicated to my twin brother Kyle.

Thank you for always blowing bubbles with me.

Kevin was not like other kids.

His classmates didn’t understand why

he played the way he did.

He just wanted to make friends, but no one

wanted to play with him. Kevin was confused. Why doesn’t anyone want to play with me? he thought

to himself.

One day, Kevin’s teacher, Miss Scott, brought in cookie

cutters of all shapes and sizes.

“Everyone pick a shape!” Miss Scott said happily.

Kevin and the other kids picked a shape, and pressed it into some

clay.

“All of your shapes are beautiful!” Miss Scott said after the

kids were done. “They are all very different, but are perfect in their own ways.

Just like all of you!”

After they cleaned up, the students sat around the

circle rug. Miss Scott asked everyone what games they liked to play. “I like to go on

the swings!” Brandon exclaimed. Hey, so do I!

Kevin thought.

Miss Scott glanced over at Kevin, who was not talking

with the group. He was focused on the

jars of bubble soap on the shelf.

He had a big smile on his face, and was rocking back

and forth.

“What about bubbles?” Miss Scott asked. “Does anyone like to blow bubbles?” Everyone raised their hands high in

the air. That’s when Miss Scott got an idea!

She gathered the bubble jars in her arms and said, “So does Kevin! Why

don’t we go outside and blow bubbles together?”

It was a sunny day in the schoolyard, and the

bubbles gently floated toward the sky. The kids cheered excitedly. They gathered together and laughed and smiled, as

they blew bubbles together.

Brandon took Kevin by the hand and said, “This one is for you!” He handed him a bubble wand, and Kevin

blew a big bubble.

“Kevin, do you want to come over to my house to play on the swings after school?” Brandon smiled. And so did Kevin.
