Volume: loudness or
softness of speaker’s voice

Rate
Speed at which person speaks,
depending on:
1. Vocal attributes of the speaker;
2. Mood she/he is creating;
3. Composition of the audience;
4. Nature of the occasion.
Pause
Momentary break in vocal delivery:
1. Signal the end of a thought unit;
2. Give an idea time to sink in;
3. Lend dramatic impact to a
statement.
