Preface

Dear friends and colleagues,

based on a very successful meeting which has been running for more than 10 years in Berlin, we are proud and glad to welcome you to an extension of this congress – Intestinal Disease Meeting as we did in 2006 (Falk Symposium 152).During 2 days we are happy to provide you with an update on the entire spectrum of GI endoscopy and its interface with gastroenterology as well as other disciplines, including one day of live demonstrations. Endoscopy plays a pivotal role in gastroenterology and is vice versa crucially dependent on new developments and inventions in gastroenterology and basic sciences as well as technical progress. On Saturday we will focus on latest advancements in small-bowel and colorectal endoscopy including inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer. A special highlight has always been one day of live demonstrations by local and foreign experts which practically demonstrate you some of the techniques mentioned and discussed before. We are also glad that endoscopy nurses will join us among the chairpersons as well as in the audience since our cooperation has become increasingly important.

We look forward to see you in Berlin, try to provide an interesting and stimulating program for you and also entertain you in the beautiful host city.

Hans Joachim Schulz Thomas Rösch Peter Siersema
