Elizabeth Ann “Putt” Contreras, 71, of Nederland, died Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born November 11, 1947, in Beaumont, to Anne Abke and John Thomas Hancock.
Liz was a manager for many years at Lucky Liquor where she was employed for over thirty years. After retiring, she decided that she missed all of the friends she had made throughout the years, so she went back to work at the Liquor Shop #2. Her nieces and nephews felt as though she was their second
mom. She was always there to lend a helping hand to them when they needed, and she also loved to cook for them. In her free time, she loved to go and visit with friends, play bingo, or take a ride to the casino to play the slots.
Survivors include her sisters, Estella Hancock and Linda Torres; nieces and nephews, Renee Hodge; Billy Hancock, all of Nederland; Jessie Torres III, of Port Neches; Dawn Sprinkle and her husband, Ronny, of Fannett; Fernando Torres, of Austin; and Tasho Estrada and his wife, Rosie, of San Antonio; Nonie Estrada; Lupe Estrada; Carol Gomez and her husband, Luis; and Ricky Estrada; great-nieces and great-nephews, Morgan Curry and her husband, Doug; Jessie Torres IV; Ethan Hancock; Kenzie Hancock, all of Nederland; Carsen Sprinkle, of Fannett; Valerie, Cindy, and Stephanie, all of San Antonio; Nichole Gomez; and Luis Gomez, Jr.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Ignacio “Nacho” Contreras.

Her Journey’s Just Begunby an Unknown Author
Don’t think of her as gone away her journey’s just begun life holds so many facets
this earth is only one. Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days or years. Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away. And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched for nothing loved is ever lost and she was loved so much.
