National FFAConvention
Students from across the state that are even slightly interested in thefeild of agriculture education attended the Elite Conference onNational Teach Ag day (September 22nd). Conference offered
several workshops such as the think like a teacher workshop, the Agin the classroom workshop, and a college fair where students could
talk to Illinois colleges that offer agriculture education. The conferencealso provided the oppertunity for a Q & A with a panel of ag
teachers about their experience in the career. Overall, the conferenceprovided an excellent oppertunity for students across Section 17 to
explore the feild of agriculture education.

STAR ConferenceThe Section 17 FFA officer team attended theDistrict 4 STAR conference hosted at Lakeland
College in Matoon on September 23rd, 2016. Thestate officers spent the entire day working with
the section officer teams from District 4 onfacilitating workshops, officer duties &
expectations, LTS planning, and a variety ofother topics to help the section officers be the best
they can be during their year of service. TheSection 17 Officer Team would like to thank
Lakeland College for generously hosting them,and the Illinois State FFA Officers for the hard
work they put into creating the conference.
