ELGIN COUNTY
4-H NEWSLETTER
By the time you read this the majority of
the 4-H clubs will have completed their projects.
Congratulations to the 4-H Dairy members
that put on a great show in Aylmer. (Results can
be found on page 2 in the newsletter).
Congratulations also go out to the East
Elgin Sheep club for the show they put on.
The Plowman Club had their achievement
day at the Elgin County Plowing Match. They had
an excellent year and are planning for next year
already. Great to see four 4-H members attended
the Ontario provincial 4-H Dairy judging in Embro
on August 2nd.
Thanks to Pat Palmer for the time and
work that she has put in to looking after the ‘Go
for the Gold’ competition for our county this year
and for the past few years. It is unfortunate that
more 4-H members do not attend this event. It
really is a great learning experience.
This is the last newsletter for 2012. The
next one is due the beginning of 2013. Karen,
thanks for the great job you are doing.
Here are some dates of upcoming events:

one of you that are going the best.

The Youth Adventure Camp (YAC) I went to was fun. They always kept
us busy while we were with new friends or playing games. The four
days go by so quickly that you didn’t even realize it was happening. I
learned so many new things and I think you will too!
Youth Adventure Camp Report:
The fun things I did when I was there was the low ropes course, using teamwork to help each other out in
the team building games and activities we did, the name games we played, being with new people and
interacting with them, and just being there!
The weather was nice up there, but you always have to be prepared for whatever the weather is. When it
was raining we had fun playing mofia, dead fish, card games, hand clapping games, spoons, and much
more.
The thing that I think 4Hers will enjoy is everything I summed up for you. I hope that all of you consider
going to this camp. They teach the campers so many things. I think it made a huge difference in my life
hopefully when you go it will do the same.
I hope you will go next year. I would love to go next year I loved that camp and I met so many people too.
