ENDEAVOUR
Term 3 Week 10 27 September 2019
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we have celebrated the positive
behaviours displayed by our students during our PBL
reward day. We had great fun running through the
mazes, playing hungy hippos and attempting some
nija warrior style obstacles. Our students have also
been busy with the school disco and an excursion to
Glenrock.
Today our School Captains joined me in awarding
graduation certificates at the Glendale Technology
High School Year 12 Graduation Ceremony. As their
Year 1 teacher many years ago I was both proud and
honoured to be there with them as the celebrated
their final day of school. We wish them well in their
upcoming exams.
Congratuatlions to Ryder N from 5/6W who was our
school winner of tickets to see Peter Pan at the Civic
Theater during the school holidays.
Term 4 is going to be a very busy term. We are looking
forward to Author visits, dance lessons school musical
rehearsals.
I would like to congratulate the students on a very
busy and successful term and wish you all a safe
holiday.

Assistant Principal (rel.)

Dogs in Schools
From time to time we are finding that dogs are being
brought into the school without prior approval.
The Companion Animals Act 1998 (the Act) provides
that dogs are prohibited from school grounds
whether they are leashed or unleashed.
We ask that when picking up your children or
dropping them off in the morning, that if you are
accompanied by your dog, that you remain outside
the school gates/fence. We have many children
who are frightened of dogs.

PBL News
Students place their Gotchas in the nest after having them recorded by the teacher. Every five weeks we
draw a name out of each stage’s nest. Winners get a $5 canteen voucher. Week 10 winners are Addison
(KW), Siena P (1W), Malakai (3/4G) and Emilee (5/6G).
PBL Major Rewards Day
On Monday we had a sensational time at our PBL Major Rewards day. Students who had consistently shown
safe, focused and respectful behaviour over the last five weeks, were invited to experience our selection of
inflatables. Children and teachers climbed, slid, stretched and jumped their way through each inflatable,
making for an awesome day.

Library Matters
Australian Reading Hour
Australian reading hour was on Thursday 19th
September. All K-6 students were given a
bookmark which was signed by an adult when
they read for an hour and place into a box in the
library. Ten lucky students were drawn from the
box and won a free book and chocolate as
pictured (plus Zac from 1W who was absent).
Visiting Authors
Three authors / illustrators are visiting EVPS
next term. New local author and illustrator
Chrissy McYoung is visiting on 24th October
next term for students in Year 3 to Year 6.
Notes have gone out and places are filling for
$5 per student.
Preschool to Year 2 students will be invited to
attend a session from Lynn Jenkins and Kirrillii
Lonergan on ‘Lessons of a Lac’ on Monday
18th November for $8 per student. Notes will be sent home in week 1 of Term 4.
Mrs Helen Styan – EVPS librarian
Peter Pan is one of the most beloved and frequently
performed family favourites of all time. This high-flying Tony
Award-wining musical has been performed around the world
and delighted audiences for over 60 years.
With an outstanding cast of young performers to feature in
Hunter Drama’s large scale lavish production to be staged at
Newcastle’s beautiful Civic Theatre. It's sure to be the best
school holiday fun ever!
Join Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the
nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a
sprinkle of pixie dust, begin a magical journey across the stars
that none of them will ever forget.
