CliffordJ.SchorerDirector,EntrepreneurinResidenceProgram,ColumbiaBusinessSchoolandCo-Director,InnovationandEntrepreneurship@ColumbiaUniversitycjs24@columbia.eduFollowingasuccessfulbusinesscareerfoundinganumberofstartupsandservingastheCEOofGEOVideoNetworksinpartnershipwithLucentTechnologies,BellLaboratories,specializinginthetechnologyfortransmittingHDvideooverfiber,CliffjoinedColumbiaUniversity’sGraduateSchoolofBusinessfacultyastheDirectoroftheEntrepreneurinResidenceprogram.Inthespringof2005,hewasawardedtheDistinguishedServiceAwardforhiscontributiontothestudyofInnovationandEntrepreneurshipatColumbiaandin2007hereceivedtheDean’sAwardforTeachingExcellence.In2012ColumbiaBusinessSchoolraisedanendowmentinCliff’snameinrecognitionforhiseffortsinsupportingyoungentrepreneurs.Inthespringof2013ClifflaunchedtheInnovationandEntrepreneurshipProgramatColumbia.Theprogram,acrosscampusinitiativethatreceivedapplicationsfrom102teams(over400people)fromwhich12teamswereselectedaspartofanintenseprogramtolaunchenterprisesbasedonintellectualpropertyandbusinessconceptsgeneratedbyfaculty,administrators,andstudents.InadditiontohisinvolvementwithColumbia,CliffisafoundingpartnerofGreenwichEnergySolutionsacompanyspecializingincreatingenergyefficientenvironmentsforover600residentialbuildingsinNewYork.Duringtheearly90’sheworkedinRussiaonbehalfoftheUnitedNationstoassistintheprivatizationprocessbyhelpingtoidentifyentrepreneurialopportunitiesthatwouldassistinthedevelopmentofthe“neweconomy.”HehasservedonanumberofboardsincludingLandauerMetropolitan,alarge,privatelyownedsupplierofmedicalequipment,andChairmanofRecycleBank,servingoverfourmillionhomeswitharecyclingrewardsprogramfrom2006through2010.HeservedontheboardofOut2Play,anonprofitthathasbuiltover100playgroundsforNY
