– Helps conduct business in an orderly fashion

• What does it do?– Ensures all sides of an issue are treated

equally– Guarantees everyone can voice their opinion

• Apply rules of Parliamentary Procedure based on the needs of your chapter– Large groups (state legislatures, county commissions,

etc.) should use it in the strictest sense • Require a greater variety of rules of order for more involved

– Smaller groups (Extension Advisory Committees, subcommittees, etc.) may be more flexible

• Easier to navigate a small group

– Use what works for your chapter for a smooth-flowing meeting
