ECDL – EUROPEAN COMPUTER DRIVING LICENSE
OVERVIEW
The ECDL establishes a standard for everyone who uses a computer in either a
professional or personal capacity. It is a qualification that verifies competence in
computer use, making the holder readily mobile within Ireland and internationally.
Employers and job seekers all agree on the importance of this standard definition of
practical competence in Information Technology. To date over 500,000 Irish people
have participated and gained their ECDL qualifications.
Duration:
7 full days, plus ½ day induction

The ECDL course covers basic computer skills and the use of common applications in

When a participant registers on an
electronic Skills card on which their progress through the seven tests is recorded.
Participants for this ECDL course also have online access
which keep track of their success to date, and allow acces
eLearning material.
Participants have three years from the date they pass their firs
seven modules.
The 7 module tests do not have to be taken in any specific order.
Testing for ECDL takes place on an automated system that delivers results instantly.
When all seven tests have been passed, the ECDL certificate is awarded.
