The Faculty Ethics Committee

• Provides guidelines for the ethical conduct of research.

• Ensures that staff and students are trained in the ethical

conduct of research.

• Has developed a procedures for handling ethics issues of all

research in the faculty, through faculty or departmental ethics

committees or, where appropriate, through NHS.

• Report annually to the University Ethics of Research

Committee via the Faculty Ethics Officer.

Ethics of Research Committee

• The Ethics of Research Committee is a Joint Committee of

Senate and Council.

• Foster a University-wide awareness of ethics issues.

• The Committee aims to assist faculties with ethical issues in

research.

research.

• monitor and review faculty procedures.

• give guidance on ethical issues referred from faculties.

• hear appeals on decisions made by faculties.

• report annually to Senate and Council.

• overarching committee for all University ethics committees.
