St Asaph Cathedral are opening a new tea room and we need a Supervisor to oversee and develop the business. The tea room will be open for 45 hours a week, and the Supervisor role will be shared between two post holders.
We have been successful in gaining funding from the HLF to install visitor information in the Cathedral and with the addition of the tearoom we hope to increase visitors to the Cathedral.
The successful applicant will join the small, friendly Cathedral Administration Team based at the Cathedral in St Asaph.

Job Title: Tea Room Supervisor
Reporting to: Administration & HR Officer
Managed by: Administration & HR Officer
JOB PURPOSE
To oversee the day to day running of the Cathedral tearoom, including supervising the team of volunteers operating the tearoom, as well as developing the business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Facility management- café open during allotted times – stock control, security, health & safety, hygiene, equipment maintenance
2. Oversee volunteers – planning, recruiting, training and supervising3. Prepare & serve food and beverages, clear up 4. Finance – cash handling, cashing up, operating the till, keeping financial
records, banking

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Facility managementa) Ensure the tea room is open during allotted timesb) Security (opening and locking up)c) Responsibility for stock controld) Ensure Health & Safety of facilitye) Maintain appropriate high hygiene standardsf) Ensure equipment is maintained correctly
2. Oversee volunteersa) Recruiting sufficient volunteers to staff tea roomb) Ensure volunteers are appropriately trainedc) Supervise volunteers during opening hoursd) Plan rotas
3. Prepare and serve food and beveragesa) Prepare and prepackage sandwiches, wraps and rollsb) Prepare soup and jacket potatoes as necessaryc) Bake cakes, traybakes and biscuits as necessaryd) Prepare and serve hot and cold drinkse) Clear tables and wash up as required – maintaining a clear working
environment
4. Financea) Operate the till, including cashing upb) Keep accurate financial records for all transactions including supplier
invoices and till recordsc) Bank takings on a regular basis to be agreedd) Liaise with the accountant as necessary, including contributing to the
preparation of the annual report for the Tearoom and maintenance of the appropriate records, reports and annual returns.

Key Criteria Essential DesirableQualifications and Experience
Good sound general education Experience of customer facing
work in a catering or retail environment
Experience of cash handling and operating a till
Food hygiene qualification or the ability to pass a food hygiene assessment
Experience in working in a café
Experience of managing volunteers
Catering qualification Emergency First Aid
Skills and Abilities Excellent communication skills with ability to relate with people in a warm & approachable manner
Food & beverage preparation
Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
Ability to prioritise work effectively
Ability to communicate in Welsh
Understanding of, and empathy with the Anglican Church and Church in Wales
Work-related Personal Qualities
A team player who can work well with colleagues

24 hours per week Pattern of working hours subject to agreement between the postholder and employer, however this will include weekends

£10/hr
The employer will contribute 9% of the employee’s pensionable salary to a pension scheme of the employee’s choice, or into the Diocesan Board of Finance Pension Scheme. The employee may choose to make an additional voluntary contribution of any proportion of their pensionable salary.
25 days per calendar year plus bank holidays (pro rata).The holiday year runs from 1 January to 31 December
