Allows the state of Mississippi to provide Medicaid benefits for

Family Planning and Family Planning related services

Who is eligible?

Eligibility Requirements Women and Men Between the Ages of 13-44

• Must be capable of reproducing • Family income is at or below 194% of the federal

poverty level (FPL) • Must not have Medicare, Children’s Health

Insurance Program (CHIP) coverage, or any other health insurance or third party medical coverage

• Women cannot be pregnant

Loss of Eligibility Occurs When • A beneficiary moves from the state of

Mississippi, • becomes eligible for another Medicaid

aid category, Medicare, CHIP, or other health insurance,

• becomes pregnant, or • reaches 45 years of age.

Covered Services

• Four annual visits (Federal FY October – September)

• Family Planning and Family Planning Related Services

• Treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and abnormal pap smears

• Voluntary sterilization

Effective Jan. 1, 2015, beneficiaries enrolled in the Family Planning waiver demonstration program may have a prescription for contraceptives and/or medications to treat a sexually transmitted infection (STI)/sexually transmitted disease (STD) written by any Medicaid participating provider filled at their local Medicaid participating pharmacy.
