Hi Division 32, Time flies! Happy 2015 and may the new year bring us all to greater heights in our service to our homes, schools, and community. 2015 is indeed the year we will reach new heights in service. It’s the year we will take service to infinity and beyond at District Convention, the year we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Kiwanis International, and the year we will finally eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus from the face of the earth. Save the date— on January 30th, Seattle-Area Key Club will be hosting a dance to benefit the Eliminate Project. It will take place at Woodinville High School— you will have a chance to buy a raffle ticket to dance with a board member, purchase glow sticks, and more fun! Let’s contribute to this final push in the Eliminate Project. Our February DCM will be an ice skating fundraiser. Our March DCM will be Pre-Con. Please, please, please be aware of the January 24th deadline for DCON registration and spirit orders. Lastly, congratulations to my new innie, Kim Anh Tran! I am confident that you will continue our division’s legacy and be a great leader. May your passion for service bring us to new heights! Please give Kim your support as she takes on her role soon. Happy 2015, Pacific-Northwest! I’m so glad that we have finally made it. After a swamped first semester of school, a myriad of Key Club events, and a relaxing holiday vacation, I’m sure you all are so excited to welcome in the New Year. A lot of people see this this month as a time of resolutions. However, I think it can better be characterized as a time to reflect and look forward to the future. What awesome things have you all done so far with your time in Key Club? How will you make the most of the rest of this year? Thus far, I have seen Key Clubbers do some spectacular things. Shout out to Tasmia Ahmed and her division for collecting 70 gift cards for sex trafficked survivors in Portland. Shout out to the Communications Committee for completely renovating the face of the Pacific-Northwest district website. Shout out to Kevin Zhang for bringing the “bowl” to #palabowlo. These Key Clubbers have inspired us to do great things. What’s even more exciting is that there’s still so much to come. Whether it’s participating in “Service to Infinity and Beyond” at the 2015 District Convention or finally reaching our goal for The Eliminate Project, the coming months have much in store. Don’t feel the need to make new resolutions; your passion for service, leadership, and camaraderie will naturally take the district to new heights this 2015. In terms of the international level, there are several items we can anticipate together. First of all, 2015 is our year to eliminate maternal/neonatal tetanus (MNT) from the face of the planet! We’re taking things to a whole new level. The International Board has its own personal pen fundraiser (I’m bringing them to DCON!), and if all of Key Club International can raise an additional $80,000, board members will be kissing an octopus at our winter board meeting. (Yes, I’m very scared. But I do it fo’ da Eliminate!) For clarity, our winter board meeting will be held in Detroit, Michigan, from January 22 to 25, 2015. The board meeting agenda has already been posted to the Key Club website. If you have any questions, or if you’d like me to bring an additional topic to the board, don’t hesitate to reach out. Finally, with this year’s International Convention swiftly approaching, it’s definitely an event we can eagerly look forward to. Held from June 24 to 28, 2015, in Indianapolis, the home of Key Club International headquarters, this will be an experience you don’t want to miss. As it is the 100th anniversary of Kiwanis, a lot of our programs will be held in conjunction with Circle K and Kiwanis members, making for a whopping estimate of 12,000 attendees. We have some awesome events planned; we’ll be renting out an entire street of Indianapolis, Hellogoodbye will be performing, and we’ll be surrounded by tons of fun things to do (i.e. free museums, bikes to ride around the city, zoos, etc.). It’s the event of a lifetime, so start fundraising and planning now! Indeed, 2014 may have brought much positivity and joy –especially in Key Club International— but I’m sure 2015 can offer even more. Have a great year, everyone! Anything is possible! Because with every accomplishment, starts with the decision to try. Key Club took a try and that changed my life. I am surrounded by the passion of service that has influenced me to grow into a leader in the PNW District. My name is Kim Anh Tran and I will be the Lieutenant Governor of Division 32 from 2015-2016. I am so excited to be part of the amazing Key Club board for this year! I enjoy laughing and smiling all day, while I clumsily eat chocolate with my buddies. I play the piano and also tennis, but most importantly Art and Crafts are so much more fun. I love the beautiful outdoors when I get the chance to go hiking, camping, and traveling. I want to see more of this beautiful world, and more of caring, our way of life!

FORGOTTEN CHILDREN’S FUND RECAP

“The Forgotten Children's was an eye opener to me. It helped me realized how anyone can help those in need as long as they have the motivation. The venue for the area was a little different than I originally imagined; not the fantasy "Santa's Workshop" everyone thinks of. But none of it mattered because all the people there were helping the less fortunate families receive actual presents. These presents weren't only for their own personal enjoyment, but also items that allow them to continue making a living. It hit me that many families are in need, and the little things that our community does for those in need make a serious impact to their lives.” -ANTHONY NGUYEN, KENTRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL

member count your club had last year, 1 point

For every DCM with at least 25 attendees, 10 points

For every DCM with at least 35 attendees, 20 points

For every $10 raised for the Eliminate Project, 1 point

For every $10 raised for a preferred charity, 1 point

For every Kiwanis meeting attended by any member

or officer, 3 points

For every K-Kids or Builder’s Club chartered, 20 points

For any month that every secretary submits their

report on time, 30 points (Late but all = 5 points)

For any month that every president submits their

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) is a nonprofit organization that raises money to benefit hospitalized kids while increasing awareness of its member hospitals. Key Club participates with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by sponsoring fundraising events. Key Club members also participate in service projects at their local children’s hospital.

The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. Key Club members raise thousands of dollars annually through various programs, including collecting change and taking part in March of

Dimes’ signature event, March for Babies.

Since 1994, Key Club has been Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF and over the years has raised nearly US$5 million for iodine deficiency programs worldwide and HIV and AIDS programs in Kenya and Swaziland. Now it’s

helping The Eliminate Project.

What is Key Club?
