Objective of DMF Action Plans

About DMF

Government of Karnataka vide Notification No CI 207MMN 2015 Dated 11.01.2016 outlines the District MineralFoundation Rules 2016.

The main objective of the DMF action plans prepared is to undertakeameliorative and mitigate measures in and around mining areas ofBallari district, which includes Facilitation like Drinking water, Health,Afforestation, Education, Agriculture & Physical Infrastructure etc., tothe mining affected (Directly & Indirectly) areas.

BALLARI DISTRICT PROFILE:

• The total Geographical area of the Ballari district is 8,45,000 Hectares.

• of which the Forest area covers 1,37,852 Hectares or 16.3% of the Geographical area.

• The total Hematite (Iron ore) from Ballari, Hosapete and Sandur (BHS) sectors is estimated to be 1148.324 million tons (Steel

times, 2011). In 2011,

• The iron ore mining area comprises number of hillocks around Hosapete, Ballari and Sandur Valley, the most prominent of them are

as follows;-

• Donimalai,

• Kumarswamy,

• Ramandurga,

• NEB (North Eastern Block) range and

• Timmappana Gudi Range.

•In order to enhance the development of subject based skills in

teachers

• an organization called Creative Learning was identified by the

department to provide training and guidance for the teachers based on

their needs at the district and block level.

THE NIGHT SCHOOL SCHEME:

✓The initiation of 284 night schools where the students could stay

after school helped in creating a conducive study environment.

✓The teachers used this opportunity in making students learn using

interesting activities such as conducting quiz, recitation of poems,

plays etc.

VIDYARTHI BELAKU SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME:

✓A software was designed to create data base of students and to

ensure monitoring of students performance and for making

payment under DBT scheme

✓The students having a minimum attendance of 80% attendance

and performance in exam above 50% marks have been credited

Rs.2000/- in their bank accounts per year as fellowship to support

poor students study
