April 2016 President’s Letter Hello Everyone! Hope you are enjoying this wild and windy spring as we move out of March and into April. I don’t know about you but I can feel the end of the school year coming rather quickly! It’s a whirlwind after spring break. We’ve had some wonderful events the past few weeks, namely the Talent Show and Science Fair. Both of these PTSA events highlight the AMAZING talents of the students at Discovery. Whether describing a science experiment or singing, dancing, telling jokes, playing an instrument, doing gymnastics, etc. on stage, the students at our school are incredibly gifted. I’d like to give a big thanks to the Talent Show Chairperson, Rowena Lum, for pulling together a very complicated event. I’d also like to thank Christian Wade, our Science Fair chairperson, for successfully executing another great Science Fair. To both of you, we appreciate your dedication! Hope everyone has a relaxing and safe spring break and comes back ready for a big flurry of activity in the end of the school year. Hollie

2016 School Bond
Building the Future for Students - School Construction and Maintenance Bond
Issaquah School Bond - A Few Facts: The Issaquah School District covers 100 square miles and five municipalities. We currently have 24 schools, housing 19,700 students. Since 2001, the ISD has increased its total building space from 36.2 square, but its energy consumption has de-creased by 2%!
Issaquah School Bond - Enrollment & School Buildings: Our District has grown by nearly 5,000 students in the last ten years and is projected to grow an additional 1,500 to 2,000 students in the next five years. More facilities are needed to meet the demand for classroom space.

to count how many honks you can get. If you can’t stay for the entire time slot, that is ok,
come for as long as you can. Students can earn community service hours too. Click on the link
below to sign up and for more information. Thank you so much for your help - your support is
sure making a difference district-wide!
