DIRECTORY OF
NATIVE AMERICAN ARTISTS & ORGANIZATIONS
IN NEW ENGLAND
LAST UPDATE: MAY 15, 2011
ABOUT NEFA The New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) creatively supports the movement of people, ideas, and resources in the arts within New England and beyond, makes vital connections between artists and communities, and builds the strength, knowledge, and leadership of the region’s creative sector. As a nonprofit that operates with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New England state arts agencies, and from corporations, foundations, and individuals, NEFA administers a variety of grantmaking programs that support the performing arts, public art, and Native American artists. NEFA also leads projects and initiatives that range from analysis of the creative economy to the creation of online tools which link and advance the regional, national, and international cultural community. For more information, visit www.nefa.org or call 617.951.0010.
ABOUT NATIVE ARTS The Native Arts program at the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) supports Native American artists in New England and nationally through grantmaking and network development. The program builds regional and national support structures to help Native artists reach broader audiences, connect with new markets for their work, and gain access to financial resources. The programs support artistic traditions within Native communities, as well as encourage exchange among Native elders, professional artists, emerging artists, and community resources to promote both the preservation of traditional art forms and contemporary expressions in and across artistic disciplines.
ABOUT THE DIRECTORY This directory includes both Native American artists and Native-led organizations in New England. A web-based searchable database is in the works on www.nefa.org. To be included in the directory, visit www.nefa.org/grants_services/native_arts_directory, or contact the program staff listed below.
