Development of a wireless telemetry system for model

rocketry

To develop a wireless telemetry system for a model rocket using both a microcontroller and a Tri-Axial Accelerometer.

To develop a host PC app which is portable.

The info is passed from the microcontroller to the PC via wirelessly

The host PC program will manipulate the data.

Contingency to be carried out if the wireless connection breaks/out of range.

The Model rocket can log a 3 minute rocket flight to the flash at 7o samples per second.

An OK command is sent to the back to the Java App to acknowledge memory is full.

A streaming mode was considered if the connection never breaks.

The output for the accelerometer is still to noisy and can be reduced by implementing a band pass filter in Java.

This eliminates the hardware for the model rocket.

The accelerometer is powered for a coin cell of 3.3V

ToothPIC is powered by a 3.3V coin cell battery

Hardwired to the accelerometer.Light WeightSmallUnder 100g

The electronics fits snugly into a model rocket.

Can be powered for a 3 minute flight can obtain data from the accelerometer

Removal of all unnecessary circuitry

PC Application that can configure the ToothPIC and take in command s from the user.

A Java Application that can graph a set of results

A Java Application that can read or write data to a text

Developed customised firmware for the ToothPIC

Unnecessary delay before in semester one in obtaining the chip

Lack of actual testing for software and the launch of rocket (should work in theory).
