Hello! I wrote to John V. Murphy who put the Fife book together and hereiswhat he said:

"Re your recent letter of 17 April 1997, I do not kow about documentation.As I recall it was written by Joseph Vance (?) for an 1890 family reunion. Ilocated an original copy from a lady who had used it as documentation for aDAR application. I got copies of 3 or 4 DAR applications and I wrote tothese people. One responded that she had an original that had been a familykeepsake. On my request she was kind enough to hav it photocopied. I didsome indexing and had it reprinted and got copies in all the local libraries.

I do not know if DAR still accepts this as proof, but I doubt it. At thattime I had requestsw for copies from many Fife relatives and others acrossthe country. All copies were gone for some time. One lady in Iowa sent mea photocopy of a photograph that was made at that reunion. None of thepeople were identified.

I wish I could give you more help. I am no longer able to do research.Good luck with your searching.
