Dermatological body cleansing
and special care
for dry and very dry skin with
evening primrose seed oil
What is missing for
your baby’s total satisfaction?
The effective care
of its bottom by experts !
To ensure that the baby’s nappy area
does not get sore.
Nappy Area – Disturbed Skin Barrier
Exogenous and Endogenous Factors
The nappy area is subject to exceptional stress: warm and
humid climate – excretory and decomposition products
• Maceration of the skin – disturbance in the barrier function
• Impairment in the skin flora with a possible colonization of pathogenic microorganisms (e. g. candida albicans in diaper dermatitis)
• Insufficient or excessive hygiene, inadequate skin care
skin redness, pimples (eczema, dermatitis), ―soreness―, itching
The negative influences are intensified if there is simultaneously an
endogenous disturbance in the skin barrier (e. g. neurodermatitis)
Nappy Area
• The cleansing and care of the nappy area is thus
highly significant for the well-being of both the
baby and its family
Skin Cleansing:
A Particularly Important Aspect also for the Nappy Area
By common consent – exaggerated cleansing may damage the skin.
Cleansing the skin with surfactants per se already has an inherent damaging potential.
It often suffices to cleanse the baby with clear water, oil or mild
moist towelettes. (But be careful ! Preservatives, surfactants)
When Cleansing the Skin – Use Very Mild Products,
Preferably with Caring Additives
– No alkaline soaps ! These impair the protective acid mantle of the skin, use soap-free skin-neutral syndets instead.
– No strongly degreasing surfactants ! These may impair the skin barrier and lead to exogenously caused damage and drying out, even if the skin is in principle healthy.
• Nature-identical or natural oils and active agents for lipid-replenishing and soothing of the skin

Competent Effective Care
• The EUBOS Research Department developed especially
for the diaper area a cream with active agents for
protection against skin redness and soreness as well as
for the regeneration of damaged skin areas:
EUBOS HAUT RUHE
PROTECTIVE CREAM
With Specific Active Agents
Emulsion Type of
EUBOS PROTECTIVE CREAM with Active Agents:
W/O
• The water in oil emulsion keeps wetness away from the skin.
• In contrast to many competitive products, which contain large
proportions of zinc oxide, it hardly whitens and sticks and is easy to
spread.
• The EUBOS cream contains a moisturizing zinc compound (Zn-PCA)
as active agent component.
• A thick, occlusive layer of a ZnO cream is also no longer necessary
with modern diapers.
EUBOS PROTECTIVE CREAM is characterized
by a special galenic with excellent properties.
(inter alia confirmed by a controlled user trial)
The Emulsion Type:
W/O (Water in Oil) — O/W (Oil in Water)
W/O emulsions provide more fat
than O/W emulsions. In dermatology,
they are preferred for very dry,
stressed skin areas.
For whole body skin care of infants,
the O/W type is usually preferred.
For the care of the diaper area, the
W/O type is recommendable
(water-repellent).
The Active Agents in EUBOS PROTECTIVE CREAM

• Glycerin
• Défensil®
• Witch hazel extract
• Bioecolia®
• PCA zinc
• Bisabolol
• Allantoin
• Lavender oil
• to strengthen the skin barrier
• to support a natural skin flora
(biosphere)
• to regenerate damaged skin
• to protect against soreness
• to protect against skin redness
• to promote the healing of sores

EUBOS HAUT RUHE PROTECTIVE CREAM
with Active Agents
For particularly good compatibility:

.... and without silicon and mineral oil, without paraffin waxes
The active agents in
EUBOS HAUT RUHE PROTECTIVE CREAM
and their functions
The Lipids in EUBOS PROTECTIVE CREAM
• Evening primrose seed oil 6 %, strengthens the skin barrier
– rich in linoleic acid and gamma-linolenic acid (Omega-6)
• Sweet almond oil 8 %, very nourishing and skin-smoothing
– rich in Omega-6 fatty acids
• Neutral oil
• Shea butter, verified protective and nourishing effect
Evening Primrose Seed Oil Oenothera biennis
Its high content of
linoleic acid and gamma-linolenic acid
supports the barrier and protective function of the skin –
in particular also that of atopic skin
with a genetically determined deficiency in these essential fatty acids
Protects the skin from damages
Helps to repair damaged structures
Essential Fatty Acids and their Function in the Skin
6 % Evening Primrose Seed Oil and 8 % Almond Oil
• Linoleic acid (Omega-6) is important for the formation of an intact barrier and protective function of the skin.
In healthy skin, it is a component of ceramide-1, an important barrier lipid. Healthy skin also converts linoleic acid enzymatically into
• Gamma-linolenic acid important parent substance for further biochemical conversion processes. (In case of neurodermatitis, there is an endogenous disturbance in these conversion processes).
• OMEGA-3 fatty acids (contained in Défensil®) have an anti-inflammatory effect.
Allantoin
(see, for example, Food Chemical Society / Division of the Society of German Chemists [GDCH]; Fiedler, Dictionary of Pharmaceutical Excipients,
Cosmetics… 5th Ed. 2002)
• Has an epithelializing effect in rough, chapped skin (supports the healing process).
• Strengthens the resistance of the skin
• Makes the skin smooth and supple (keratoplastic properties)
• Has an anti-inflammatory effect
Note:
A product of protein metabolism in mammals and plants. Chemical synthesis by oxidation of
uric acid with permanganate; heating of uric acid with dichloroacetic acid; out of glycolic acid
and urea.
ahHamamelis Extract Hamamelis virginiana
Witch hazel leaf extract
The effect of the witch hazel:
anti-inflammatory
promotes healing
astringent
Is used to support the skin function,
to treat skin problems in children
and in adults.
Example: PENATEN Cream,
especially also recommended for
diaper dermatitis
DÉFENSIL® Normalizes Sensitive Skin Prone to Redness
Scientifically proven effects*:
• Rapid skin soothing after physical influences (in vivo study)
• Strengthening of the skin with regard to chemical stimuli
(in vivo study)
• Reduction of irritation and redness compared to hydrocortisone and panthenol (in vivo study)
