Industry Institute Interaction Committee had organized a one day visit to Doordarshan Kendra, Worli Mumbai for second year Electronics & Telecommunication students on 14 February 2018. Doordarshan Kendra Mumbai is the television net-work of Prasar Bharati. It was established in 1972, and now produces and broadcasts the 24-hour Marathi language TV channel, DD Sahyadri, which was launched in 1994 and covers most of the state of Maharashtra, India. The visit helped stu-dents building the practical knowledge of the students. Different sections such as Live News Room, Control Room for Live News, Program Set Room, Editing Room ,On Air Control Room Transmitter ,Tower Prasar Bharati Van for Capture live news, Campus of Prasar Bharati. The visit left a deep impact on the students connecting the theory sessions of communication en-gineering with the practical implementation.

Visit to Telawne Power Equipments Pvt. Ltd.
A visit to Telawne Power Equipments Pvt. Ltd. was organized by Industry Institute Interaction Committee for the II semester students of Electronics & Telecommunica-tion on 30th Janaury 2018. Telawne Industries is a reputed transform-er manufacture in Mumbai in Technical & Engineering departments. Students got to see manufacture of Oil Immersed Power and Distribution Transformers up to 50MVA, 132kV Class, Resin Impregnated Dry type Transformers up to 5 MVA, 22KV Class, Cast Resin Dry type Transformers up to 5 MVA, 33 KV Class, Unitised & Pad Mounted Substations up to 2MVA, 33KV Class. Since the students are introduced to the field of Electronics & Electrical engineering in the current semester the visit gave a good exposure them. Various test equip-ments like Power Analyzer, Test Bench Panel, Intermediate Transformer for Open & Short Circuit Test. (2Nos), Variac 400A, Ratio Meter & Noise Level, Voltmeter, Meg-ger, Multi Meter, Clamp Tester were intro-duced to them.

3D-Printed Smart Gel
That Walks Underwa-
ter, Moves Objects
Rutgers University-New Brunswick engineers have created a 3D-printed smart gel that
walks underwater and grabs objects and moves them. The watery creation could lead to
soft robots that mimic sea animals like the octopus, which can walk underwater and
bump into things without damaging them. It may also lead to artificial heart, stomach and
other muscles, along with devices for diagnosing diseases, detecting and delivering drugs
and performing underwater inspections.
The study focuses on a 3D-printed hydrogel that moves and changes shape when activat-
ed by electricity. During the 3D-printing process, light is projected on a light-sensitive so-
lution that becomes a gel. The hydrogel is placed in a salty water solution (or electrolyte)
and two thin wires apply electricity to trigger motion: walking forward, reversing course
and grabbing and moving objects.
The speed of the smart gel’s movement is controlled by changing its dimensions (thin is
faster than thick), and the gel bends or changes shape depending on the strength of the
salty water solution and electric field. The gel resembles muscles that contract because
it’s made of soft material, has more than 70 percent water and responds to electrical stim-
ulation
