Dear industry colleagues,
On behalf of Offshore magazine and the entire PennWell Corp., it is my sincere pleasure to invite you to attend the 17th annual Offshore West Africa Conference & Exhibition, March 19-21, 2013, International Conference Center, Accra, Ghana.
Held under the esteemed patronage of the Ministry of Energy, Republic of Ghana, OWA proudly returns to Ghana to help it and neighboring offshore producing nations to continue advancing safe and efficient resource exploration and production.
In additional to the traditional technical content, Offshore West Africa, for the first time, is seeking ministerial participation to address the government and regulatory issues that impact the regional offshore oil and gas industry. And I am pleased to announce that, at the time of this writing, invitations to participate have been accepted by the Ministry of Energy, Republic of Ghana, and His Excellency Jose Maria Botelho de Vasconcelos, Minister of Petroleum, Republic of Angola. Invitations have been sent to other African nations including Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire.
Also new for 2013, Offshore West Africa is organizing an opening day panel discussion that promises to engage lively debate. Panelists are scheduled to discuss the results of an analysis of the fiscal regimes in the Gulf of Guinea, benchmarked offshore project performance, and a recent assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources in six geological provinces along the West African coast and extending offshore to 4,000-m (13,000-ft) water depth.
The two-track technical program, as you will see in the following pages of this preliminary event guide, boasts a full complement of speakers from operating companies, drilling contractors, and engineering companies, among others. Presentation topics include subsea technology, well construction and drilling operations, field development, floating production systems, flowlines and pipelines, geosciences, asset integrity, safety and environmental concerns, and local content.
I trust you will find the 2013 edition of Offshore West Africa an ideal platform for networking, sharing technical and business solutions, and continuing education.
Thank you for your continued support, and I hope to see you in Ghana.
Sincerely,
David paganiechief editor, Offshore magazineDirector, offshore international conferencespennwell

greetings industry colleagues,
It is my great pleasure to invite you to Accra, Ghana for the “Offshore West Africa 2013 conference and exhibition.” This event marks the 17th year of Offshore West Africa and, a return to Ghana after the successful events here in 2010 and 2011.
As an annual event, the Offshore West Africa provides the technical forum for the discussions of the advancement of oil and gas exploration and production activities in the West African sub-region. The accompanying exhibitions to the conference will present the technologies that are available and applicable to the industry for the exploitation of the abundant resources offshore West Africa.
As the chairman of the advisory board, I encourage you to attend the annual event taking place in the hub of oil and gas activities in the sub-region and benefit from the carefully packaged session topics touching on areas such as; lessons learned from recent field developments and emerging technical solutions; new challenges in deepwater and understanding key technological solutions; and perspectives on local content in the sub-region.
The benefits from the forum are not limited to the technical sessions; it equally provides networking opportunities with leading players and stakeholders in the industry. This business opportunity for partnering in the search for replicating hydrocarbon reserves in the deepwater becomes imperative in a world where the price of oil and gas are stimulating industrial activities.
Once again, on behalf of the Offshore West Africa Advisory Board, PennWell Corporation and Offshore, the world’s leading offshore oil and gas magazine, I am pleased to invite industry leaders from West Africa and around the world to this exceptional forum to exchange ideas, share solutions, and learn from each other’s experience.
