Remove the Memory Stick PRO Duo. Remove the battery pack or AC Adaptor rom
the camcorder. Apply mechanical shock or vibration to thecamcorder.
When connecting your camcorder to anotherdevice with a cable, be sure to insert theconnector plug in the correct way. Pushing theplug orcibly into the terminal will damage theterminal and may result in a mal unction oyour camcorder.
Do not apply shock or vibration to yourcamcorder. Te hard disk o the camcorder maynot be recognized, or recording or playbackmay not be possible.
Do not use your camcorder in very loud areas.Te hard disk o the camcorder may not berecognized, or recording may not be possible.
o protect the internal hard disk rom shockby dropping, the camcorder has drop sensor
unction*. When a drop occurs, or under a non-gravity condition, the block noise made whenthis unction is activated by the camcorder mayalso be recorded. I the drop sensor catches adrop repeatedly, recording/play back may bestopped.
When the temperature o the camcorderbecomes extremely high or extremely low, youmay not be able to record or play back on thecamcorder, due to the protection eatures o thecamcorder being activated in such situations.In this case, an indicator appears on the LCDscreen (p. 30).
Do not turn on the camcorder in a low-pressurearea, where the altitude is more than 3,000meters (9,800 eet). Doing so may damage thehard disk drive o your camcorder.
I you repeat recording/deleting images or along time, ragmentation o data occurs on themedia. Images cannot be saved or recorded. Insuch a case, save your images on some type oexternal media rst, and then per orm [MEDIAFORMA ]*.
Fasten the grip belt and hold your camcordercorrectly while recording.
o adjust the LCD panel, open the LCD panel90 degrees to the camcorder ( ), then rotate itto the best angle to record or play ( ).You can rotate the LCD panel 180 degrees tothe lens side ( ) to record in mirror mode.
Te LCD screen is manu actured usingextremely high-precision technology, so over99.99% o the pixels are operational or effectiveuse. However, there may be some tiny blackpoints and/or bright points (white, red, blue,or green in color) that appear constantly on theLCD screen. Tese points are normal results othe manu acturing process and do not affect therecording in any way.

On recording Be ore starting to record, test the recording
unction to make sure the image and sound are
recorded without any problems. Compensation or ailure or loss o recordingcannot be provided, even i recording orplayback is not possible due to a mal unction othe camcorder, recording media, etc.
V color systems differ depending on thecountry/region. o view your recordings on a
V, you need an N SC system-based V. elevision programs, lms, video tapes,and other materials may be copyrighted.Unauthorized recording o such materials may
be contrary to the copyright laws.
Save all your recorded image data o prevent your image data rom being lost,save all your recorded images on external mediaperiodically. It is recommended that you savethe image data on a disc such as a DVD-R usingyour computer*. Also, you can save your imagedata using a VCR, or a DVD/HDD recorder*.
When the camcorder is connected to acomputer Do not try to ormat the hard disk o thecamcorder using a computer. I you do so, yourcamcorder may not operate correctly.
Note on disposal/transfer I you per orm [MEDIA FORMA ]* to ormatthe hard disk o the camcorder, data may not becompletely deleted rom the hard disk. Whenyou trans er the camcorder, it is recommendedthat you per orm [ EMP Y]* to prevent therecovery o your data.In addition to the above, when you dispose othe camcorder, it is recommended that youdestroy the actual body o the camcorder.
About language setting Te on-screen displays in each local languageare used or illustrating the operatingprocedures. Change the screen language be oreusing your camcorder i necessary (p. 12).

Getting Started
Step 1: Charging the battery pack

You can charge the InfoLITHIUMbattery pack (H series) after attachingit to your camcorder.
Notes Your camcorder operates only with anIn oLI HIUM battery pack (H series).
1 Turn the POWER switch in thedirection of the arrow to OFF (CHG)(the default setting).
2 Attach the battery pack by sliding itin the direction of the arrow until itclicks.
3 For DCR-SR65/SR85:Connect the AC Adaptor to the DCIN jack on the Handycam Station.
For DCR-SR45/SR46: Connect the AC Adaptor to the DCIN jack on your camcorder.Open the jack cover and connect theDC plug o the AC Adaptor to the DCIN jack.
4 For DCR-SR65/SR85:Connect the power cord (mainslead) to the AC Adaptor and thewall outlet (wall socket). Insertthe camcorder into the HandycamStation securely, all the way to thebottom. When setting the camcorder onto theHandycam Station, close the DC IN jackcover.
For DCR-SR45/SR46:
Connect the power cord (mainslead) to the AC Adaptor and the walloutlet (wall socket).Te CHG (charge) lamp lights up andcharging starts.

Te CHG (charge) lamp turns off whenthe battery is ully charged.Disconnect the AC Adaptor rom theDC IN jack holding both the DC plugand the Handycam Station (DCR-SR65/SR85) or your camcorder (DCR-SR45/SR46).
Tips For DCR-SR65/SR85:Same as DCR-SR45/SR46, you can charge thebattery pack by connecting the AC Adaptor toyour camcorder.
To remove the battery packurn the POWER switch to OFF (CHG).
Slide the BA (battery) release lever andremove the battery pack.

On the charging/recording/playback time imes measured when using the camcorder at25C (77 F) (10C to 30C (50 F to 86 F) isrecommended).
Te available recording and playback time willbe shorter when you use your camcorder in low
temperatures. Te available recording and playback time willbe shorter depending on the conditions underwhich you use your camcorder.

On the AC Adaptor Use the nearby wall outlet (wall socket) whenusing the AC Adaptor. Disconnect the ACAdaptor rom the wall outlet (wall socket)
immediately i any mal unction occurs whileusing your camcorder. Do not use the AC Adaptor placed in a narrowspace, such as between a wall and urniture.
Do not short-circuit the DC plug o the ACAdaptor or battery terminal with any metallicobjects. Tis may cause a mal unction.
Even i your camcorder is turned off, AC powersource (mains) is still supplied to it whileconnected to the wall outlet (wall socket) via theAC Adaptor.

Step 2: Turning the power on, and setting the date andtime
1 While pressing the green button,turn the POWER switch repeatedlyin the direction of the arrow untilthe respective lamp lights up.
(Movie): o record movies (Still): o record still imagesGo to step 3 when you turn on yourcamcorder or the rst time. When you turn on the (Still) lamp,the screen aspect ratio is changed to 4:3automatically.
2 Touch (HOME) (SETTINGS) [CLOCK/ LANG] [CLOCK
SET].
Te [CLOCK SE ] screen appears.
3 Select the desired geographicalarea with / , then touch [NEXT].
4 Set [DST SET] or [SUMMERTIME], [Y](year), [M] (month), [D] (day), hourand minute, then touch .
Te clock starts.
Tips Te date and time do not appear duringrecording, but they are automatically recordedon the media, and can be displayed duringplayback.
You can turn off the operation beeps bytouching (HOME) (SE INGS)
[SOUND/DISP SE ] [BEEP] [OFF].
Changing the language setting
You can change the on-screen displays toshow messages in a specied language.
ouch (HOME) (SE INGS) [CLOCK/ LANG] [ LANGUAGESE ], then select the desired language.
ouch the button onthe LCD screen.
When using thecamcorder or the rsttime, the [CLOCK SE ]screen appears on the
LCD screen.

Step 3: Selecting the media
You can select the hard disk or MemoryStick PRO Duo as the recording/playback/editing media on your camcorder. Selectthe media or movies and still imagesseparately.Te de ault setting is hard disk or moviesand still images.
Notes You can do recording/playback/editingoperations or the selected media only. Whenyou want to change, reselect the media.
Te recordable time with [SP] recording mode(the de ault setting) is as ollows (approx):

Check the number o recordable still images onthe LCD screen o your camcorder (p. 20).
1 Touch (HOME) (MANAGEMEDIA) tab on the screen.
2 Touch [MOVIE MEDIA SET] to selectthe media for movies, and touch
[PHOTO MEDIA SET] to select themedia for still images.
Te media setting screen appears.60 min
3 Select the media you want to set.
4 Touch [YES] .Te media is changed.
To conrm the recording media setting urn the POWER switch repeatedly to light
up the (Movie)/ (Still) lamp, dependingon which media setting you want to check.
Check the media icon on the screen.
Inserting the Memory Stick PRO Duo
Prepare a Memory Stick PRO Duo i[MEMORY S ICK] has been selected asthe media.For types o Memory Stick you can use inyour camcorder, see page 6.
1 Insert a Memory Stick PRO Duo. Open the Memory Stick Duo cover in the
direction o the arrow. Insert a Memory Stick PRO Duo into
the Memory Stick Duo slot in the rightorientation until it clicks.
Close the Memory Stick Duo cover.

You can play back images recorded on the media selected in the media setting (p. 13).Te de ault setting is the hard disk.
1 Turn the POWER switch to turn on your camcorder.

Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
I you run into any problems using yourcamcorder, use the ollowing table totroubleshoot the problem. I the problempersists, disconnect the power source andcontact your Sony dealer.
Notes before sending your camcorder forrepair Your camcorder may require initializing orchange the current hard disk o the camcorder,depending on the problem. In the event othis, the data stored on the hard disk will bedeleted. Be sure to save the data on the internalhard disk (see Handycam Handbook (PDF))
on other media (backup) be ore sending yourcamcorder or repair. We will not compensateyou or any loss o hard disk data.
During repair, we may check a minimumamount o data stored on the hard disk in orderto investigate the problem. However, your Sonydealer will neither copy nor retain your data.
For the symptoms o your camcorder, seeHandycam Handbook (PDF) and orconnecting to the computer, see PMB Guide.
The power does not turn on. Attach a charged battery pack to thecamcorder (p. 9).
Connect the plug o the AC Adaptor to thewall outlet (wall socket) (p. 9).
The camcorder does not operate evenwhen the power is set to on.
It takes a ew seconds or your camcorderto be ready to shoot afer the power isturned on. Tis is not a mal unction.
Disconnect the AC Adaptor rom the walloutlet (wall socket) or remove the batterypack, then reconnect it afer about 1minute. I the unctions still do not work,press the RESE button (p. 18) using asharp-pointed object. (I you press theRESE button, all settings, including theclock setting, are reset.)
Te temperature o your camcorder isextremely high. urn off your camcorderand leave it or a while in a cool place.

Precautions
On use and care Do not use or store the camcorder andaccessories in the ollowing locations:
Anywhere extremely hot, cold or humid.Never leave them exposed to temperaturesabove 60C (140 F), such as under directsunlight, near heaters or in a car parked inthe sun. Tey may mal unction or becomede ormed.
Near strong magnetic elds or mechanical vibration. Te camcorder may mal unction. Near strong radio waves or radiation.Te camcorder may not be able to recordproperly.

Operate your camcorder on DC 6.8 V/7.2 V(battery pack) or DC 8.4 V (AC Adaptor).
For DC or AC operation, use the accessoriesrecommended in these operating instructions.
Do not let your camcorder get wet, or example,rom rain or sea water. I your camcorder
gets wet, it may mal unction. Sometimes thismal unction cannot be repaired.
I any solid object or liquid gets inside thecasing, unplug your camcorder and have itchecked by a Sony dealer be ore operating it any
urther. Avoid rough handling, disassembling,modi ying, physical shock, or impact suchas hammering, dropping or stepping on theproduct. Be particularly care ul o the lens.
Keep the POWER switch setting to OFF (CHG)when you are not using your camcorder.
Do not wrap your camcorder with a towel, orexample, and operate it. Doing so might causeheat to build up inside.
When disconnecting the power cord (mainslead), pull it by the plug and not the cord.
Do not damage the power cord (mains lead)such as by placing anything heavy on it. Keep metal contacts clean. Keep the Remote Commander and button-typebattery out o childrens reach. I the battery
is accidentally swallowed, consult a doctorimmediately (DCR-SR65/SR85).
I the battery electrolytic liquid has leaked: consult your local authorized Sony service

When not using your camcorder fora long time
Periodically turn it on and let it run such as byplaying back or recording images or about 3minutes.

I your camcorder is used in a cold place, aresidual image may appear on the LCD screen.Tis is not a mal unction.

To clean the LCD screenI ngerprints or dust make the LCD screendirty, it is recommended you use a sofcloth to clean it. When you use the LCDCleaning Kit (optional), do not apply thecleaning liquid directly to the LCD screen.Use cleaning paper moistened with the
liquid.On handling the casing I the casing is soiled, clean the camcorder bodywith a sof cloth lightly moistened with water,and then wipe the casing with a dry sof cloth.

Guarde todos los datos de imagen grabados Para evitar que se pierdan sus datos de imagen,guarde peridicamente todas las imgenesgrabadas en soportes externos. Se recomiendaguardar los datos de imagen en un discocomo, por ejemplo, un DVD-R mediante lacomputadora*. Tambin puede guardar losdatos de imagen con una videograbadora o unagrabadora de DVD/HDD* .

Puede cargar la batera InfoLITHIUM(serie H) despus de conectarla a lavideocmara.

Acerca de la batera Antes de cambiar la batera o extraer eladaptador de alimentacin de ca de la videocmara, gire el interruptor POWER hasta
la posicin OFF (CHG) y asegrese de quelos indicadores (Pelcula)/ (Imagen ja)(pg. 9)/ACCESS (pg. 11, 16) estn apagados.
No se suministrar energa de la bateramientras el adaptador de alimentacin de case encuentre conectado a la toma de entradade cc de la videocmara o de la HandycamStation (DCR-SR65/SR85), aunque el cablede alimentacin est desconectado deltomacorriente de pared.
Acerca del tiempo de carga/grabacin/reproduccin Tiempos calculados utilizando la videocmaraa una temperatura de 25 C (se recomienda unatemperatura de 10 C a 30 C)
El tiempo de grabacin y de reproduccindisponible ser ms corto cuando utilice la videocmara a bajas temperaturas. En uncin de las condiciones en las que utilicela videocmara, es posible que el tiempo degrabacin y reproduccin disponible se vea
reducido.Acerca del adaptador de alimentacin de ca Si utiliza el adaptador de alimentacin de caconctelo a un tomacorriente de pared cercano.Si se produce alguna alla de uncionamiento alutilizar la videocmara, desconecte el adaptadorde alimentacin de ca del tomacorriente deinmediato.
No utilice el adaptador de alimentacin de cacolocado en un espacio angosto, tal como entreuna pared y los muebles.

1 Mientras mantiene presionado elbotn verde, deslice el interruptorPOWER varias veces en el sentidode la echa hasta que se encienda elindicador correspondiente.

Cuando enciende el indicador (Imgenesjas), el ormato de la pantalla cambiaautomticamente a 4:3.

Aparecer la pantalla [AJUS.RELOJ].
3 Seleccione la zona geogrcadeseada con / y, acontinuacin, toque [SIGUIENTE].
4 Ajuste [HORA VERANO], [A] (ao),[M] (mes), [D] (da), hora y minuto y,a continuacin, toque .
El reloj empezar a operar.
Sugerencias La echa y la hora no aparecen durante lagrabacin, aunque se graban automticamenteen el disco y se pueden mostrar durante lareproduccin.

Uso del HOME MENU
