Our aim:

To challenge the existing methods of social and economic data gathering.

Our solution:

Quick and insightful tool for hands-on data collection and visualization.

Context:

Current status quo:

Data is expensive, OLD, not accessible, abstract and hard to use.

We need:

Bottom up, cheap and easy to use data collection, that can be easily shared to anyone online.

The solution

DataCrowder.org,the social network for micro research.

Micro research = storytelling based on data visualizations (maps and charts).

Who needs it?

Researchers, journalists, community foundations, media and PR professionals, students.

How does it work?

On DataCrowder.org users can:

their projects and stories.

Alex lives in Berlin, works as a freelance journalist and he is currently writing a story on

how the IT industry is growing in the city. He has several

unanswered questions like: “What are the main

nationalities of IT professionals in Berlin?” or

“When did they arrive in Berlin?

To find the answers and write a better story he

goes on DataCrowder.org and shares his goals. He

then creates a micro survey with the two

questions, posts it and shares it with his network.

Collaborators
