This highly spe-cialized surgery wasdone on the patientGurmeet Kaur, aged55 years, resident ofJammu. The patienthad knee pain for sev-eral years for whichshe consulted manydoctors and all of themadvised knee replacement. Butbecause of her young age patientwas avoiding surgery as the life ofstandard knee implants is about20 years.

Then, she consulted Dr RanjitSingh at Fortis Amritsar and hesuggested going for Gold KneeReplacement surgery. As thelongevity of this implant is up to

40 years, so it was very suitablefor her considering her age.Patient underwent gold kneereplacement surgery for both ofher knees.

Gold knees have a coating ofTitanium Niobium Nitride whichimparts them a golden look and

improves thelongevity and per-formance of kneereplacement surgery. This coating alsomakes the implantallergy proof, so it isparticularly suitablefor patients who havemetal allergy.

    When patientswith metal allergyundergo knee

replacement, conventionalimplants release metal ions whichcan damage the knee implant andcan cause complications likeloosening, infection and persist-ent knee pain. The wear rate ofgold knee implant is very low dueto which it can last up to 40 years. Thus it is very useful for youngpatients less than 60 years.
