Project Delivery Experience

The Husab Project is a mega project which involves the design and construction of a new Uranium Mine at a cost of some USD 3.5 billion. My duties and responsibilities have started from the earthworks kick off phase with several contractors and subcontractors covering the levelling off desert ground and t6he removal thereof, followed by civil infrastructure, electrical and mechanical engineering. The project had peaked at a manpower headcount of 5200 employees.

Some key project exposure that I was involved with include:

Establishing very sound relationships between local trade unions and contractors

Negotiated and concluded several Recognition, Project Labour and Substantive Agreements

Implemented a Village (Camp) Constitution, manage and chaired Residents Committee meetings

Establish Communication Structures (Skill Labour, Contractors and Consultative Forums

Exemptions from Ministry to work on public holidays, Sundays and to exceed the maximum overtime working hours

Payroll and legislation compliance HR Audits

Manage and maintenance of discipline

Dispute Resolution at Conciliation/Arbitration and Labour Court

Work and Permanent visas
