Launch SolidWorks

Go to the sheet of paper and start a NEW PART.

Go to OPTIONS and SELECT Document Properties and then IPS. As we will be using Imperial or US units, press OK

Select the SKETCH tab and then LINE in the FRONT plane.

Go to the DISPLAY tools and SELECT front VIEW.

We are going to draw the WHEEL.

SELECT LINE and draw a horizontal LINE and SMART DIM to 7.6

Green check OK. TAP the F key to “fit” the screen.

Draw a line from the MID point of the first line and then SMART DIM to 8.00. Tap F key to fit screen.

Draw two lines from the 8.00 line and smart dim each one to 1.00

DRAW a LINE from the ENDPOINT of the 1.00 line as shown to the ENDPOINT of the 7.60 line.

Draw a second line from the MID point. Make Sure you see the PARALLEL symbol to COMPLETE the SECOND line.

Using LINE complete the LOWER LEFT corner.

Using LINE complete the RIGHT the same as the LEFT. Draw a line from ENDPOINT to ENDPOINT to complete the base.

Press the ESC key and then SELECT the CONSTRUCTION line and press DELETE.

Go to FEATURES and SELECT REVOLVED BOSS/BASE.

Select as shown at RIGHT. Green Check OK.

Go to “BEACH BALL” or EDIT APPEARENCE and CHANGE to MATERIAL of CHOICE.

Select VIEW as SHOWN. Select RIM as SURFACE and PLACE CIRCLE as SHOWN – Smart Dimension to 4.8 Diameter

The circle is aligned with the rim and we need to move it to the surface.

Select EXTRUDE

Change to the settings shown at right. Select the green base as shown.

Results should be as shown

Go to the VIEW pull-down and select TEMPORARY AXES to mark our CENTER POINT.

Select LINE under the SKETCH tab and draw a line from the new axis CENTERPOINT straight down as shown. Draw a second line. Smart dimension ANGLE by selecting one line and then the other to 35 Degrees.

Draw a line approximately as shown.

Using SKETCH FILLET fillet the corners as shown to 0.5 and press OK

Draw a line approximately as shown.

Using SKETCH FILLET and radius of 0.5 fillet corners as shown. Select OK.

Select CIRCULAR SKETCH PATTERN by using the DOWN ARROW on

LINEAR.

SELECT the lines around the LIGHT GREEN area and select EXTRUDED CUT. Use the surface and select the dark green – make through all. You may have to select EXIT sketch to get the Extruded cut. Select OK

Select CIRCULAR PATTERN. You have to use the DOWN ARROW under LINEAR. Change settings as shown. Select the cut we just did and OK.

Finished Wheel, looks good, but no way to attach it.

Go to the HOLE WIZARD. Use the SELECTIONS as shown.

Position first HEX BOLT AS SHOWN

Using Circular pattern insert 5 using the axis as the center point.
