Interval Data Overview

• Zones are generally used to store data about lithostratigraphic units

• Intervals are meant for storing data outside outside “normal stacked strata”

• Micro features that are too fine scaled • Core descriptions & analysis

• Coal beds

• Cuttings

• Detailed lithology/facies mapping

• RFT

• Faulted repeat pay zones

• Drilling events

• Macro features that span zones • Mud weights and properties

• Bio or paleostratigraphic data

• Completion details

• Perf & test data

Comparing Interval & Zone Data

• Each interval data type (e.g. core, litho) is stored in a unique table

• Occurrences/records of each type are stored within each table

• Record attributes are stored within “Data Fields” that are unique to each table

• These attributes can be assigned on

a well-by-well basis or in bulk via the

Maintenance > Data Tab >

the Cross Section Module, select

Wells>Plot Interval Data.
