Who Should Register For CSUSB

Online Summer School Classes?

REMEDIATION Students currently in grades 9th, 10th,

11th and 12th grade seeking to make-up D/F grades on their high school transcript. *CVUSD students, counselor approval is not required for remediation courses.

ACCELERATION Rising 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade

students seeking to advance in mathematics, social science, language other than English. Requires school counselor or AEC approval by email. *Approved courses for acceleration vary by high school site.

IMPACTED SCHEDULE Rising 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade

students participating in programs such as academies, leadership and AVID. Also, students who have restricted schedules due to high school master schedule configuration. Possible courses include 10th grade PE and health. Requires school counselor or AEC approval by email. *Approved courses for impacted schedules vary by high school site.

Courses Taken

Students can take up to two (2) courses per session

Students must log in at least 40 to 50 hours to earn an A, B, or C; we do not record Fs.

Students must select the semester they need and remember that 2 sessions equals credits for one year in most cases. The exception is courses such as Government, Economics, Health and we have an asterisk next to the course on the flyer.

Incoming 9th gradersOutside CVUSD, course choices are based on your school/district approval.

In CVUSD:• Ayala HS, Health is ok to take for students with

a GPA of 3.5 or higher• Chino HS, open• Don Lugo, open• Chino Hills HS, Health needs approval from

Counselor Mrs. Hughes (Melissa_Hughes@chino.k12.ca.us). Seventy-five (75) students have already been given permission.

Scholarships:

May 20th-28th send Dr. Carr (Preston_Carr@chino.k12.ca.us) and his secretary Ms. Gibson (Erin_Gibson@chino.k12.ca.us) an email request.

You will receive an application if any scholarships are available.

Virtual ProgramAcademic Integrity

All virtual students are required to meet face-to-face with their instructors for a minimum of 2 conferences, including their final exams. All science courses require in class hands-on wet labs.

*Online tools will be used to meet these requirements during the mandate of social distancing

Alternative Credits Form

Approval is NOT needed for CVUSD students making up D/F grades.

Approval is needed for students taking classes for acceleration/impacted schedules. An email from the student’s high school counselor or AEC will suffice. Contact the AEC if you have difficulty reaching your school counselor (Erin_Gibson@chino.k12.ca.usor 909-591-3682.) Forward this completed form OR counselor approval email to the AEC by email.
