Crystalised Bio

Crystalised is a strong, symmetrical display font. It’s defined by a 1cm sq grid (3x4cm lower case & 4x6 upper case). Using this typographic system enabled each individual design to sit comfortably inside their respected grid.

Crystalised is muscular and powerful. It offers a rigid, sharp and eye-catching design. The symmetrical elements of every letter works with another and offers a geometrical style once assembled together.

When used as a header font, it stands out on its own as a font of pure beauty. Its clean intersections and clarity has made it popular with poster design and nightclub promotion.

Crystalised Anatomy

The construction of Crystalise was done firstly by hand and then rendered using Illustrator. Each character uses the same two shapes, (squares & triangles) which gives the font its distinct shape. The diverse angles of each character are repeated and lent to another in the fonts alphabet, which has led to a very consistent and tight structure. Both the lowercase and uppercase display the same basic characteristics due to the similar sized grid each were creating in.

The reason why this powerful, symmetrical display font has become so popular with nightclub promotional posters is no coincident. It’s own urban, industrial feel lends itself well with the feeling of the establishments it represents. It sets the tone for the venues whilst also shinning in its own right as a thing of beauty. Its simple geometric structure makes it a clean and workable display font for any occasion.

Ascenders

Crystalised keeps its ascenders in check and makes sure they don’t cause too much trouble or step too far over their x-height.

10

Descenders

Likewise with the ascenders, the desenders too are told to keep quiet. They each cling on to the baseline and keep a solid, uniformed shape.

12

Symetrical LinesThe font is known for its symmetrical lines, which results in a beautifully eye-catching design.

Sharp Shapes

You could almost cut yourself on the ends of its characters. Sharp, dark, and violent. Crystalised knows how to handle itself

A Thing Of BeautyIts all talk and bravado on the outside but inside it’s a bit of a softy. It’s a thing of real beauty and offers its users a crisp clarity and simplicity under that strong, powerful exterior.
