HOWDOESTHISQUALIFICATIONCOMPARE?
IncontrasttomusicGCSEsandA/ASlevels,Rockschool'squalificationsformusic
practitionersarevocationalqualifications,allowingdirectprogressionintothe
industryand/orahigherlevelofstudy.Theythereforeplaceparticularemphasison
developingpracticalskillsforemploymentwithintheindustry.Othersimilar
qualifications,suchastheLevel3BTECqualificationsinMusicPractice,combine
practicalskillswithcontextualknowledgethatmaynotnecessarilybefundamental
toprogressioninmanycareerpathways.Similarly,toomanymandatoryunitscan
adverselyaffectlearningandpotentialsuccess,sothesequalificationscontainone
mandatoryunitrelevanttothevocationalpathway.Thequalificationsare
transferableandcumulative,inthat,forexample,learnerstakinganAwardcanbuild
onunitssuccessfullyachievedtoattainaCertificate/ExtendedCertificate/Subsidiary
Diploma.UnliketheLevel3BTECandGCSE/A/AS,thereisnoexternalassessment.

YoudonotdoanyexamsforyourcoreRockschoolDiploma.However,thegrades
youareawardedforyourassignmentworkwillformulatethebasisofthefinalgrade
youreceiveforyourqualification.

feedbackonwhatyouhaveachieved.Theyaimtoalwaysdothiswithintwoworking

ThePlaysomethingAcademyprovideacommonroomareaforeatinganddrinking
withinthemainPSHouseBuilding.Studentsarenottoeatordrinkinclassroomsor
the studios due to the equipment and are not permitted to eat or drink in the
corridorareas.
DisciplinaryProcedure
YourPersonalTutorwillmonitoryourprogressonthecoursecarefully,alongwith
you, inPersonalTutorials. All of the tutors will keep in touchwith your Personal
Tutor and ensure they are fully informed of your achievement, behaviour,
attendance,punctualityandsubmissionofwork.IfthereareconcernswithANYof
theseareas,youwillbemadeawareofthisbyyourPersonalTutorandifyoufailto
maketheimprovementsthatarediscussedthiscouldprogresson tofurtherstages
inthedisciplinaryprocess.
