Corporate Action Data Management
The Challenge
Corporate Actions can result in financial
implications for investors, however they always
impact the Investment Process.
Data source management, portfolio
management, trading, operations and
accounting are all buffeted by the sheer volume
and variety of corporate actions.
The administration processes are well
understood and over time there have been many
attempts to ease the burden.
However - truly effective, accurate, timely and
cost-effective processing has proved to be
elusive due to a number of factors:
The variety of data sources – Data
Vendors, Custodians, Corporate
Communications
The difficulty in matching multiple,
disparate data formats and content
The Integration of multiple Investment
Process applications
The management of large and irregular
volumes of work
This has resulted in many Corporate Action data
management processes across the industry
which suffer from:
Extensive manual processing
Inaccurate and late data
Broken process flows
High levels of reconciliation
Expensive processing
The inability to apply adequate audit and
data governance standards
The Bloomberg PolarLake Corporate Action Data Management Solution

Taking Control

their Corporate Actions processing through the

and volume enabling workflow planning and
impact analysis to be carried out across the
Investment Process from Portfolio Management
to Accounting.

investigate the actions in detail through drill-
down functionality.

as a result of the source data management,
effective application of business rules and

Workstation.
This data is then available to be released at the
appropriate point into the Investment Process.
A compete Audit trail of the process is provided.
