W A L S H C O L L E G E : U S E R E X P E R I E N C E SITUATION Walsh college’s site was confusing to visitors, had usability issues with its navigation and did not meet the changing needs and direction of the college.

SOLUTION Element5 interviewed the staff and faculty for pain points, created new wireframes based on their comments and built clickable wireframes that were tested by current and potential students.

RESULTS Testing showed the site was far easier to use and had almost no user errors (2 out of 440 task completions). Element5 then redesigned the look and feel to keep with Walsh’s new strategic direction, while moving them to a responsive, mobile-first design.

B L O O M F I E L D C O N S T R U C T I O N : P A I D M E D I A SITUATION Bloomfield Construction relies on paid media—particularly PPC—to get clients for their business which is heavily reliant on seasonality and natural disasters.

SOLUTION Element5 analyzed their existing PPC efforts, tested new keywords and buys and continually optimized.

RESULTS The results were so overwhelming Bloomfield Construction the one result every business hopes for: Too much work. We frequently pause their ads to keep them from getting overloaded.

PROBLEM Answer Network is an older telecom company with an outdated image. The new owners were young and introducing new methods and technologies and wanted their branding to reflect the change.

SOLUTION After running the answer network team through several exercises to identify their real audience and company DNA, Element5 was able to determine a new direction for the brand.

RESULTS The new brand (Pinwheel Network) took them in the right direction with the desired attributes: young, colorful, high tech feel and with a non-local name that allowed for future global expansion.

D E T R O I T I T : S E O ( S E A R C H O P T I M I Z A T I O N ) PROBLEM Detroit IT is Metro Detroit’s leading IT service provider and had recently launched a new, responsive design site. Unfortunately, none of the terms they wanted to rank for were appearing on page one in search.

SOLUTION A complete content audit was performed to pinpoint technical errors and outdated SEO techniques that are no longer in compliance with Google’s hummingbird update.

RESULTS 14 of the 16 pages in the site that needed to rank are now on page one of Google and bing and in most cases in positions 1–3. Phone call leads came within a week. New traffic is up by 45%.

PROBLEM The family entertainment field is crowded and competitive, but the websites offer little differentiation. CJ Barrymore’s wanted a site that 1) drove traffic, and 2) stood out in a sea of sameness.

SOLUTION We created a highly trackable site with an unusual feature: the homepage would swap its background video out based on the weather! The site is also fully responsive for mobile and tablet.

RESULTS 20% increase in bookings year over year. 14% increase in users year over year. 45% increase in mobile users since the redesign.
