50 l tank, fill with cooling fluid comprised of 48.5 l water and 1.5 l
Struers Additive. 100 l tank, with cooling fluid comprised of 97 l water and 3.0 l
Struers Additive.
Connect the appropriate power supply cable (Schuko or Nema)
to the end of the power cable fixed to the control unit.
Place the cable itself in the cable hooks mounted on the cooling
unit tank (this is to prevent the cable trailing on the ground and being damaged).
Connect the power cable to the appropriate single-phase power supply.
Preparing the Cooling Unit for Use Filling the Tank Important!
The cooling unit will be very heavy when full. Before filling the tank, check that the cooling unit is in position.
If this is not possible, ensure that the tank is directly in front of its final position (e.g. the cut-off machine’s cooling unit compartment), with the
tank’s wheels in-line with the sides of the compartment and the control unit at the front so that it is ready to be pushed into position without being moved
to the left or right.
Note To avoid corrosion, Struers recommends the use of Struers Additive in the
cooling water (percentage stated on the Additive container). Remember to top up with Struers Additive each time you refill with water.
Connecting to the Power Supply
Important! Place the supplied cable box around the connection of the two cables.
This protects the cables from water.

To mount the new filter paper roll, proceed as follows (see also “Filter paper path”, below): Mount a roll of filter paper onto the paper roll holder at the rear of
the band filter - underneath the paper sensor cover. Pull out approximately 1 metre of paper from the roll. Lay the paper flat across the band filter, then guide the loose end
over the front edge of the filter and behind the sludge scraper bar.
Wrap the loose end of the paper neatly two to three times around the collect bar (supplied).
Mount the collector bar onto the axle: − Hold the collector bar inside the band filter housing and in
line with the axle’s left-hand side mounting hole. − Slide the axle through the left-hand side mounting hole,
through the collector bar and into the right-hand side mounting hole.
− Lock the axle in position with the axle retaining catch. The path of the filter paper from the paper roll to the collector bar.

Restarting the Band Filter
Important! When the filter paper runs out, a built-in alarm will flash a red light
on the Cooli-3 or Cooli-5 control unit, and on Cooli-5 a "Beep" will sound at regular intervals.
If the unit is placed in a closed compartment e.g. underneath a cut-off machine it might be difficult to notice these alarms. Therefore please check
the remaining length of filter paper on a regular daily basis.
However, when a Cooli-5 control unit is used with a machine that has data communication e.g. Axitom, a message will be displayed on the display of
the connected machine. (See Cooli-5 messages).

Water guide plate Holes for outlet hose from connected machine Overflow Bottom of Static Filter Lift the water guide plate up and place a sheet of filter paper on
the bottom of the static filter. Make sure that it completely covers all the holes of the static filter.
Replace the water guide plate with water trap next to the overflow and make sure that the filter paper is held firmly in place.
Insert the water outlet hose from the connected machine into the hole with the correct size in the water guide plate.
Static filter: Inserting Filter Paper
Important The static filter is a so called gravity filter. The debris created during the
cutting or grinding process will settle on the filter paper and cover the paper after a short while. That will force the water to run down the overflow. The water guide plate is equipped with a trap so that both heavy and light dirt particles are kept in the static filter. It is therefore important to place the
water guide plate correctly. It is normal that the water rises in the static filter;
the filter paper should only be replaced when the level of debris is 1 – 2 cm (0.4 – 0.8") high.
