Anti-Reflection and Nanomaterials

Al2O3 9 1.62 @ 600nm

SiO2 7 1.46 @ 600nm

TiO2 6 2.2-2.7 @ 550nm

• An anti-reflective coating is achieved by depositing thin films of alternating refractive indexes

• By engineering the refractive indexes and thicknesses of these films, visible reflections are reduced and transmission is improved

• Nano-scale additives must be used to avoid transmission losses and scattering that occur with larger particles
