Program DescriptionThis symposium is designed for dermatologists in private practice andacademia, dermatology residents and fellows, nurse practitioners andphysician assistants specializing in dermatology. The program includes halfday didactic sessions on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, and patientviewing followed by case discussion on Sunday.
The SEC consists of ten member institutions in the southeastern region ofthe United States. The purpose of the annual SEC program is to support theeducation, collaboration and camaraderie of dermatologists in theSoutheast. This year’s meeting will highlight aspects of general dermatology,pediatric dermatology and recent updates in the field of dermatology.
At the conclusion of this program, the participant should be able to:
! Explain the utility of ELISAs for diagnosis of select immunobullous diseases.
! Enhance their knowledge of T and B cell molecular clonality results in the setting of cutaneous atypical lymphocytic infiltrates.
! Identify new molecular markers for the diagnosis of melanoma.
! Improve knowledge and understanding of select aspects of phototherapy.
! Describe infectious disease screening and treatment recommendations for patients who may require immunosuppressives for cutaneous disorders.
! Employ the tools and approaches used to explain risk to patients.
! Identify strategies for enhancing the physician patient interaction.
! Describe food allergies in pediatric patients.
! Identify new cutaneous signs of systemic disease in pediatric patients.
! Identify common infestations in children.
Participation in the course satisfies the American Academy of DermatologyMaintenance of Certification requirement of dermatology related Category 1credits.
Poster SubmissionPoster abstracts for the meeting are now being accepted for review. Prizeswill be awarded to the most outstanding posters. Posters will be judgedbased on their educational value, organization and clarity.

Emory University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for ContinuingMedical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education forphysicians.
TuitionTuition is $275 for dermatologists and mid-level providers (physician assistantsand nurse practitioners) and $125 for residents and students. Tuitionincludes a course syllabus, refreshment breaks, Friday evening welcomereception, patient case booklet, Sunday breakfast, and other amenitiesinvolved in a rewarding learning experience. A maximum enrollment hasbeen set so early registration is encouraged. Written cancellations prior toOctober 7th will be refunded less an administrative fee of $50. There are norefunds after October 7th, but substitutions will be accepted.

The patient casediscussion, which immediately follows, will be held in the adjacent WoodruffHealth Sciences Administration Building, 1440 Clifton Road, NE. Roundtriptransportation to the Emory campus from the InterContinental Hotel will beprovided for attendees.
