Welcome to week seven!
I hope all of our families have enjoyed a
lovely long weekend together.
Restrictions
Thank you to all our families who continue to
follow our current restrictions at school. I
understand that it is a long process but
keeping everyone as safe as we can is
paramount. There are no changes at this
current time but I will keep you informed if
any of the restrictions are lifted.
X-Country
Congratulations and well done to all the
students who took part in the x-country run
last Thursday. Students came out and gave
it their all as they ran around the oval,
covering the distance of 1000, 1500, 2000
and 3000 metres, dependent on their age.
Runners will receive a certificate for their
participation and effort. You can see the
fun they had on our video on Facebook.
Make sure you find and like our Compton

Year 7 Transition to High School
At this point in time, we have been told that
the 2022 transition is still on track and the
time line hasn’t changed due to the
Coronavirus pandemic. We will give you
more information as it comes to hand.
Oval
We have asked students not to go down
onto the oval or to the Indigenous Garden
in the mornings before school. Now that the
early morning frost is setting in, kid’s shoes
and socks are getting really wet, really
quickly!
Illness
Please continue to make sure that your
child/ren are not sick if they are attending
school. Any sick child/ren will be isolated in
the office and you will be asked to collect
them immediately.
Lunch Day Popcorn
If you are noticing strange popcorn kernels
in your child’s lunch box – do not worry! The
6/7s have been putting drinks day popcorn
directly in student’s lunch boxes. This means
no paper bags and it saves the students
from washing up so many plastic cups! Mrs Keeley

Student Leadership News
Welcome to Week 7! Hope everyone’s still staying safe! You might noticed some recent additions to our Drinks Day menu. We’re working on some new ideas to widen the range and give you a greater selection of options. Students participated in Virtual Cross Country last week, via our school oval. It was great to see so many of our students all participating in such a fun event, especially considering the current situation. If you have any suggestions or ideas, don’t be afraid to let us know or contact the Front Office! Have a good week! —Your Leadership Team (Will, Malcolm, Ashiah and Olivia)

Around the Classrooms
Last week in Maths we moved onto Chance
and Data. Students are ‘comparing observed
expected frequencies and interpreting and
comparing a variety of data displays’. This is
always a favourite unit of students as we end
the unit with a Probability Carnival!
In English we are writing our final Narrative.
Students were given the picture below and had
to write a Narrative using the 7 Steps to
Writing. Can you think of any stories you
would write?
Mrs Kramins and the 6/7 Class
We are LEGO Masters!! This week as part of our
Design and Technology learning the middle primary
class have been following a series of design briefs.
Some of the design briefs have been:
Design and build a marble maze.
Design and build a robot.
Design and build a pencil pot.
Design and build a boat that floats.
Students worked in small groups to create the
success criteria. They had to think about what the
build would need to include in order to be successful.
Prior to building students had to plan their design and
consider the purpose for the build. After the building
process each student had to reflect on their builds
and evaluate. It has been a very creative week.
Students have let their imaginations run wild!

A fun filled session of Design and Technology
learning.
The task in groups of 4 was to design an outfit that
would be suitable to wear to an awards night. Groups
needed a model to showcase their design at the end
of designing and making time.
Students only had the following materials in their
making to use –
*Newspaper * Sticky tape * Wool and ribbon *
Scissors *
At the end of making the outfit was modelled to the
class on the runway. The 2/3 class reflected about
their experience in detailed writing. Mrs D and the 2/3 Class
We have had our student teacher Jasmin Dowdell
working with us learning to be a teacher which has
been very exciting.
We are working on improving our book making books
and as a group have created a rubric so we can have
specific goals for our books. Some of the things on
our rubric include quality pictures, sounding out
words, full stops and capital letters.
We are having a strong number focus for the next few
weeks. we have been working on improving our quick
recall of addition and subtraction facts and also
working on problem solving with these 2 operations.
We also had a week working on length- the best
activity was measuring our lolly snake in lots of
different ways!
We have begun to look deeper at the dance
curriculum and have learnt some dances and talked
about some of the elements of dance.
