Introduction

Objectives

Simulation!!Flooding disaster has been linked as a result of worldwide global warming and the population boom.

Hydraulic modeling plays an important role to assist engineers and authorities to design the suitable structures and make resilient plans.

Among 1D modeling methodologies, HEC-RAS which is a non-commercial application has been widely used. At the same time, hydraulic modelers believe that ISIS has a bright prospect in flood modeling field (Néelz & Pender, 2009).

‣ Geometric Data

!!Data Preparation

Flow Pattern: Steady Flow.

Change flow data to obtain water depths on different return periods.

!!Build hydraulic modeling in HEC-RAS and ISIS on the basis of practical hydraulic data of Whitesands at Dumfries.

Compare the differences in progress and results between the two software.

Determine the scopes of application.
