Sierra Madre Super Summer Begins June 9
Join us again for the Sierra Madre Super Summer! Pick up your passport at the Library
or any event on this calendar starting June 9. Then, start stamping your passport by
reading, attending events, shopping local, and visiting local landmarks.
The more stamps you get in your passport, the better prizes you will earn, culminating
in a LIMITED EDITION Sierra Madre branded item.

Andre Giraldo, Classical Guitar Music Saturday, June 9—3:00 pm Please join us at the Library for an afternoon of classical guitar music from around the
world, Saturday, June 9, 3:00, featuring works from Brazil, Russia, France, and Argentina
by composers Heitor Villa Lobos, Nikita Koshkin, Jorge Morel, and Maximo Diego Pujol.
Andre Giraldo is an LA based classical guitarist who
performs and teaches, as well as being a member
of the trio The Artisan Guitar Ensemble.
Nancy Evans Dance Theatre Saturday, June 23—4:30 pm Nancy Evans Dance Theatre, a
modern dance company from
Pasadena will perform in the
Library on Saturday, June 23 at
4:30 pm. The dance troupe
presents a unique take on story
telling through movement using
literature and audience prompts to create a
one-of-a-kind dance experience.
Reading Buddies
Program is Back!
Stop the summer slide with this
wonderful reading opportunity
for children at your local library.
High School Volunteers will read
with children ages 5-9 to assist
them with maintaining their
reading skills over the summer.
Bring your kids to the Library,
not only to find books, but to
get a Reading Buddy!
Wild West: Mystery of the Golden Piano Monday, June 11—10:00 am A legendary train-robbing outlaw is back in town, about to
strike again! ScienceTellers uses amazing, interactive science
experiments to bring an exciting story to life! This story
features seven 'wild' experiments and lots of volunteers!
Summer Fun in the Park Every Wednesday from June 13th —
August 15th 9:30 am Please join us in Memorial Park for exciting
programs and fun games! There will not be
a program on Wednesday, July 4th.
Kid Zorro: Bilingual Puppet Musical Monday, June 25—10:00 am Noteworthy Puppets presents a puppet musical that re-imagines the origin story of the popular masked outlaw—Zorro!
Toddler Obstacle Course—Walking to Age 3 Tuesday, June 26—10:00 am Bring your toddler to the Library to enjoy a myriad of fun and safe obstacles to
improve balance and dexterity through play. Children older than three, please
attend Fun in the Park instead of this toddler-specific program.
Sierra Madre Shakespeare Festival For their fourth season in our community, The Sierra Madre Shakespeare
Festival, also known as The Downtown Repertory Theater Company, will be
doing performances from 7:30 to 10:00 pm throughout the summer months.
Performances are free, and family friendly. More information on the group can
be found at www.sierrashakes.com.
Teen Scene Summer Middle and High School ages—Beat the heat, hang with friends, and eat snacks.
Christopher T. Magician—Magic Workshop Wednesday, June 13 at 4:00 pm Christopher T. (Taco) Magician is coming to teach you
magic secrets and tricks you can use just about anywhere!
Teen Crafternoons Wednesdays at 4:00 pm June 20—Celebrate the summer solstice and make your
own flower or herb crown. All supplies are free.
June 27—Bring an old t-shirt or use one of ours to make a tote bag.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover
Drop-off your animal for the
sleepover: Friday, June 29—12-6 pm
Pick up your animal and have
breakfast: Saturday, June 30 at 10 am
You and your animal friend will have a
world of fun this summer at the Stuffed
Animal Sleepover. Your stuffy will spend
the night and come to life at the Library,
and when you pick them up the next
morning, enjoy a light breakfast while
watching a slideshow of the sleepover
shenanigans.

Experience Virtual Reality
Step into a virtual world with Oculus and VIVE!
These new and easy-to-use VR systems will transport
you to real and imaginary places. Visitors aged 13
and older can join the fun, any Tuesday evening at
the Library from 5-7 pm.
3D Printing at the Library
Two new 3D printers are installed at the Library
and will be available for public use on Tuesday
evenings from 5:00 to 7:00 pm starting June
12. A Library volunteer will be on hand to help
users with this new addition to the Library.
