Directions to complete Community Service Project:
1. You must complete a minimum of 10 community service hours. This is VOLUNTEER work to be completed outside school hours.
2. If you qualify for Florida Bright Futures, you must complete a minimum of 100 hours.3. To qualify for “Community Service Tassel” you must complete over 400 hours of community
service and turned in by the December deadline.4. Complete all parts of the required essay (see below).5. Have the Community Service Project reviewed and signed by a parent/guardian.6. If the hours were completed outside school you MUST bring a letter, in company letterhead,
certifying the number of hours you completed.7. Submit the project and essay for final approval and signature to your social studies teacher
OR counselor.
Essay Guidelines: Summarize your community service experience in essay form. Essay must be typed or neatly hand written. Address each of the following in your essay.
1. Describe your project and the main activities of your project.2. Outline the steps you took to plan, implement, and complete the project. Indicate how much
time you spent in completing all aspects of this project.3. Describe the problems, if any, that occurred during the project. Explain how these problems
were handled. 4. Describe the impact you believe your project had on the community or the people who
received your service.5. Describe what you learned about your community as you worked on your project. Describe
what you learned about yourself and the importance of giving something back to others.
