Welcome from ASLA National Office

Why do DC Visits Matter?

Let’s go to the poll!

Studies show: In-person visits are MOST influential!

Recent evidence of this fact…

… record signatures on the HALS letter!

Advocacy Day Logistics and Planning

It all starts with constituency…

How Are District Visits Different from DC Visits?

The good news:– Your flying to DC demonstrates

your commitment– You will have the opportunity to

meet with more members and staff

The not-so-good news:– The meeting will often be

shorter and much more directed

– Schedules can change at a moment’s notice!

What’s Going on With the Meetings?

We are working with ASLA to get meetings scheduled for all participants.

– We are working on meetings for everyone with their one House Rep and two Senators for the address we have on file

– We are requesting for between 10 and 4 on 4/30

– We are doing our best to cluster meetings– All meetings have been requested.

Please contact advocacyday@advocacyassociates.com if you have questions

What’s Going on With the Meetings?

Full schedules will be available onsite

Because of the Spring Recess, many offices are not scheduling for the week of 4/27 until the week of 4/20.

Things we need to be sure we know…

Are you now not sure whether you will be able to attend or want to participate in meetings?

Do you have time constraints we should be aware of?

Is the address you registered with the one you want us to use?

What to Know Before You Go!

Three Key Questions

What do you want? Who are you talking

to? How should you ask?

What Do You Want?

You must “Make the Ask”

Two kinds of asks– Policy– Relationship Building
