‘30,000 feet view’: The big picture of Dalal Street
Good Morning & Welcome to Monday's trading action at Dalal Street, dated 26th of
November 2018.
Here we go again!
The global cues are more of the same from Thursday! More bad news for stock investors at
Dalal Street amidst weak close at Wall Street in Friday's trade.
Wall Street tumbled again in Friday' trade, primarily pressured by falling oil prices, which
drove the indexes to weekly loses of more than 3.5% — the second straight week of
declines.
The big question: After a subdued start, what next?
Our call of the day suggests an uninspiring performance likely at Dalal Street. That said,
fresh drubbing only below Nifty 10,451.
Well, if benchmark Nifty slips below 10,451 mark then the perma-bulls have only one
option: Just drop to two knees… lower chin to their chest… and pray.
The only silver lining for our stock markets in today's trade tanking crude-oil
prices. Softening of crude price and favorable consumer inflation data could see the
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) defer the rate hike in its upcoming monetary policy,
If you recollect, rising oil prices had concerned investors just sometime back. Tanking oil
prices could be a positive trigger for our stock markets. But having said that, please note
that the ongoing bout of weakness in Crude oil prices are seen as early signs of
global slowdown.
The other positive catalyst in favor of bulls camp could be a feeling that
Federal Reserve's rate hike expectations are softening. Well, if the Fed softens
its stand a bit on the rate front then expect a Santa rally!
Bottom-line: It makes sense for the perma-bulls camp to curb their
enthusiasm on any intraday strength. There is a sinking feeling for Nifty. Caution
should still be the buzzword and investors' need to brace themselves for the worst-case
scenario!!
Also please note, Brexit negotiations and Italy's woes are likely to keep EM sentiments
fragile.
Long story short: Buying advised only above 10,761 mark on Nifty.
Meanwhile, the key corporate events lined up this week:
• ARVIND 28-Nov-18 Spin Off.
• BRITANNIA 29-Nov-18 Stock Split From Rs.2/- to Rs.1/-
• DALMIABHA 29-Nov-18 Amalgamation.
And the upcoming events that are lined up in near term are:
A. 5 December 2:30 PM RBI POLICY.
B. 6 December OPEC meeting.
C. 7 December After 6:00 PM 5 States Exit polls.
D.11 December 5 states Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Telangana, Madhya
Pradesh results.
Outlook for Monday: Nifty unlikely make a sizeable comeback.
At the time of writing, SGX Nifty futures were seen trading cautiously, up 20 points at
10,546, indicating a slight positive start for our stock markets.

Technical Strategy
‘30,000 feet view’: The big picture of Dalal Street
Expect trading to be little volatile as the sentiment is decisively bearish as on Thursday's
close. A combination of threats likely to further drive the sell-off at our stock markets too.
1. Liquidity crises being faced especially by the MSMEs
2. FIIs still in exit mode.
3. The ongoing bout of weakness in Crude oil prices are seen as early signs
of global slowdown.
4. Lingering uncertainty surrounding U.S China trade issues. Worldwide
investors are likely to gear up to the much anticipated Trump and Chinese President
Xi Jinping's scheduled G20 summit on 30 Nov - 1 December in Buenos Aires.
5. Deteriorating technical conditions as Nifty seen unable to move past its key hurdles
at 200 DMA at 10761 mark.
6. Uncertainty surrounding assembly election outcome. The big investors
camp are likely to pay close attention the elections in five states which will conclude
on December 7. Counting of votes will be held across all the five states on
December 11.
Please note, three states Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan are ruled by BJP
and the election outcome will be crucial.

FII/DII & OPTIONS DATA:
• As per Thursday’s Provisional Data available on the NSE, FII’s bought shares worth
Rs. 446.24 crores in the Indian Equity Market. DIIs too bought shares worth Rs.
49.68 crores in the Indian Equity market.
COMMODITY CUES:
• Gold price traded range bound in Friday's trade. Key support seen at 30201 mark.
Interweek strategy: Establish long positions at CMP, targeting 31457 mark and then
aggressive targets at 31901 with stop at 30201.
• Copper prices were seen trading range bound in yesterday's trade. Interweek
strategy: Establish long positions only above 442.50 zone, targeting 453 mark and
then at 455-461 zone. Stop below 421.
BANK NIFTY ended on a extremely weak note in
Thursday's trade, down 1%.
Bank Nifty was seen breaking down from a higher
consolidation zone on daily charts. Profit booking
was seen as the primary theme.
Technically, the momentum oscillators are
signaling a major plunge in the Bank Index price.
The index could fall below its intermediate low at
24250. Any move below 24250 will confirm
major weakness which also needs to be backed
by increases in volumes. The index is seen
moving down on daily charts, backed by negative
divergences.
Key support to watch in near term is at 25561
zone. Medium term supports seen at 24250 zone.
Sell between 26101-26251 zone, targeting 25575
zone and then at 25001 aggressive targets at

MACRO WATCH:
• On the economic front, the U.S. homebuilder sentiment hit the lowest level in two years, according to the National Association of Home
Builders. The association said its index of builder confidence dropped 8 points to 60, missing analyst expectations for the key metric.
CURRENCIES & BONDS:
• The forex markets were closed on Friday. In Thursday's trade, the rupee rose by 76 paise to end at 70.70 against the US dollar. Helping
sentiments were softening crude oil prices, and persistent foreign fund inflows. Technically, oversold conditions prevail. Buying USD/INR
advised only above 72.45.
WHAT TECHNICALS TELLS US ON NIFTY:
• Dalal Street slipped hard in Thursday's trade, ending the session firmly in negative territory following weakness in global stock markets and
despite weakness in crude oil prices.
• The benchmarks Sensex and Nifty ended in red for third consecutive day.
Net-net, it was a tough day for our stock markets. The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was weak. The BSE Mid-
Cap index fell 0.74%. The BSE Small-Cap index fell 0.44%.
• Technically speaking, Intraday supports on Nifty are placed at 10471 and then at then at 10291 mark. The intraday bias continues to be
neutral as Nifty was unable to move above the make or break hurdles at 10757-10,775 zone.
• Long term supports for Nifty in near term is at 9,951 mark. The technical landscape will worsen further only if Nifty closes below the 9,951
mark as that would open the door to massive technical selling, possibly quickly towards the 9750-9801 zone.
• The price action for Nifty is suggesting that we are likely to see an 10251 -10,751 range in near term with neutral bias. The bigger battle for
bulls camp would be reclaiming Nifty's 200 DMA at 10,761. Our sense is that there is a good chance that profit booking will emerge amidst
lack of any key positive triggers.
Bulls Vs. Bears: Time to Pick a Side!!
Preferred trade on Nifty: Nifty (10526.70): Sell on early
strength between 10575-10601 zone, targeting 10471 zone
and then aggressive targets at 10291-10301 zone with stop
at 10751.
Preferred trade on Bank Nifty (25999): Sell between
26101-26251 zone, targeting 25575 zone and then at 25001 aggressive targets at 24251-24501 zone with stop at 26901.
