From Our Board President
Welcome to summer and a very hot summer so far. This time of
year is the perfect time to enjoy all that Colonial Country Club has
to offer. Have you joined John and played tennis or Pickleball yet?
Are you enjoying the relaxation that can be found at the pool?
Hitting our newly designed golf course? Taking part in the
wonderful dining opportunities Chef Jeff and his staff have offered?
If not, please make sure you make some time to have some fun at
CCC this summer. The golf course is starting to look much better
now with the fairways starting to come in. After playing several
other courses in the area and comparing their conditions to Colonial,
we appear to be in better shape than most. You will notice that we
have invested in sod to place in areas around the greens. We will
continue to do what we can to maintain our investment in our club.
You may have noticed some sprucing up at the front of the
clubhouse and in the areas around the course. Thanks to a generous
donation by the CCC Ladies Golf Association, the grounds around
the clubhouse are looking better and better. Please make sure to
thank any of the lady golfers if you get a chance for their donation.
Together, we can continue to make our Club a place we are all proud
of. As always, I look forward to seeing everyone this summer at
Colonial Country Club. Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

From Our House Manager
Well the summer is here and the heat is definitely
with us and the pool is a great place to cool down.
We have some activities planned starting with the
July 4th celebration with DJ Steve Cater here to
entertain us as well as a giant slide for the kids,
spin art and other pool side games.
The pool is a great place to have a party so call
Holly at 336-475-0596 to plan your event
poolside. Chef Jeff Stilley has started new lunch
and dinner menus so make sure you come out and
try one of his new dishes on the menu. We have
been doing monthly wine tastings for the
Membership. This is a great way to try new wines
and different varietals and the next one scheduled
is Thursday, July 23rd.
We have several other fun events scheduled for
the next couple of months, such as movie night at
the pool, a low country boil, Mother and Daughter
Tea, etc.
The Membership drive has gone so well so thank
you to all the Members that help bring in new
Members. Colonial is a fun place to be and our
goal is continue to make it a fun place where
Members can come and have a great time.
Thank you for all your support
David

There will be a "babysitter pass" sold for $40.00 each Summer which will allow the identified responsible party unlimited access.
20. Grandchildren’s use of the pool shall follow the same rule stated in number five (5) that states “children under twelve (12) years of age are not allowed to use the pool facilities unless accompanied by an adult (grandparent)”
Grandchildren are considered to be grandchildren if they are not over age 18 and are still in high school or below. Non-member friends of the grandchildren are not permitted use of the pool. As we prepare to enter into a very hot July, I want everyone to be aware of all
the fun events going on at the Club. This month is full of vacation and summer
camps for the kids but we will have many family activities for all families to enjoy!
Before you’re off to enjoy Fireworks on the 4th of July, stop by the pool at 12:00 pm
with the kids and enjoy a Hamburger-Hotdog buffet and more! We will also have a
slide and games throughout the day until 4:00 pm. The Clubhouse will be closing
at 4:00pm.
Adult life gets hard sometimes and what better way to get away than with a
Low Country Boil poolside on July 24th 6:30-9:30 pm. This event will be for adults
only. Entertainment will be a duo with Mark and Nichole( Decades). This year we
will start an annual Reverse Raffle at Colonial on July 30th. The cost is $100 per
ticket which will include your meal . There will be a cash bar available . Stop by
the office or see Johnny Ellington to purchase your ticket.. What a great way to
support your club!
I want to WELCOME all of our new members we have gained
through our 2015 Membership Drive. I hope Colonial continues
to offer everything you have imagined. Please continue any
suggestions or concerns you may have whether it concerns an

The week of July 6-10 we will be closed due to aerification of the greens,
tees, green complexes, fairways and rough. If the weather is perfect and we
can accomplish all of our goals earlier than expected we will notify
everyone through email and let you know when the golf course will be
open. This is a very important time for the golf course as we will continue
to heal the areas that were affected due to winter kill by aerifying the entire
property and heavy amounts of fertilization. Also by aerifying the greens it
will allow us to remove thatch, relieve compaction and allow water and air
movement throughout the soils. The tee boxes will undergo a heavy
verticutting process along with a double aerification followed by heavy
topdressing to level and firm up the tee boxes. We have seen major
improvements to the fairways over the last 45 days and this will continue
for months to come. I look forward to seeing everyone on the golf course
soon!

COLONIAL PICKLEBALLERS MEDAL AT HIGH POINT TOURNAMENT
Colonial had 3 players play in the 4th Annual USAPA High Point Pickleball Tournament June 11-13. John Martin
played in the 4.5 Division while Gabe Miller and Connor Ware teamed up in the 3.0/3.5 Division. Martin took 2nd and
Miller/Ware took 3rd. Great fun was had by all. If you’re interested in learning how to play, finding a tournament, or
just want to play socially please contact John to find out how the staff at Colonial can help.
RESERVING COURTS
With the weather warming up we have to water the courts more to keep them in good shape. Please be sure to either call
the shop, or email John, if you would like a court so we can guarantee a court in ready for you.
4th OF JULY AT THE COURTS
On Saturday, the 4th of July, we will have Cardio at 8am, followed by Tennis Doubles and Pickleball at 9am. Be on the
look out for emails, and respond to let John know that you’re coming.
STAYING HYDRATED
Summer is here! With these hot temperatures you need to make sure that you stay hydrated, and as cool as you can.
A great way to cool off is to run ice, or cool water, over your wrist. Pouring water on the top of your head will give you
the opposite affect. Majority of your heat escapes the body through the top of the head, and your feet. Pouring cold water
on your head closes the pores, not allowing the heat to escape, making you hotter rather than cooling you off.
FAREWELL
It is with a heavy heart that I will be leaving Colonial this month to accept the Director of Tennis position at
The Windermere Club in Blythewood, SC. My family, and myself, feel so blessed to have been part of Colonial, and it
was not an easy decision for us to make. I thank everyone for the memories, and I will cherish my time spent here.
My last day is the 11th, so please stop by before then. My staff will continue to serve the membership, to the best of their
abilities. Thank you again for EVERYTHING, and please stay in touch.
